  • Kaj je duševno zdravje v skupnosti? = What is community mental health?
    Flaker, Vito
Community mental health is a relatively new concept denoting an interdisciplinary practice. Ostentative definition would be pointing at a variety od different practices, different actors, spaces and ... images which are of newer date and radically differ from the triangle of traditional treatment of mental distress: hospital, doctor and a patient. We cannot talk of the object of this area but of the goals. These can be subsumed into four groups: 1st Improvement of the status of the users of the mental health services: 2nd Change of the services to serve the needs, wants, desires and necessities of the users: 3rd Social re-evaluation of madness, mental distress and otherness;4th Removing and preventing of those social processes that would lead anybody into a destructive crises and enabling of everybody to confront life challenges and stress creatively. Achieving of these goals can happen on the basis of community principles, which means spatial shift from the hospitalinto the community, from isolated into integrated space, where the dyad of a physician and a patient is diffused into a network of different actors, where domination of the physician is transformed into egalitarian relationships and where contextual methods preside over healing reduced to thebody of the patient.
