Impacts on organizational scheme of municipal waste management in Slovenia

Paper gives an overview of trends and basic concepts of municipal waste management in Slovenia. The overview is based on the statistical data, review of waste management strategy implementation and ...legislation governing the area of treatment and disposal of minicipal waste. The paper discusses the most important factors that influence the organizational scheme of municipal waste management. These are: state policy, implementation and enforcement of legislation, existing local organizational schemes as well as social, spatial, geological and other impacts. Article concludes with some suggestions and recommendations which are based on the results arising from overview. The main aspects are: stringent implementation of separate waste collection at the source, choice of a model, which is adjusted to the local needs and active participation of all stakeholders in the waste managenebt process.
