Abstract According to the World Economic Forum, appropriate education enables indigenous children and adult learners to exercise and enjoy economic, social, and cultural rights. It also strengthens their ability to exercise their civil rights so they can influence political policy processes for enhanced protection of their human rights. We contend that STEM education is one of the important components of appropriate education. The concept is modeled after the Science Pathway for Indigenous Communities developed by CSIRO. More specifically we carried out an initial study in Kasepuhan Ciptagelar, whose indigenous knowledge has been studied quite extensively.
