Seawater corrosion and welding can together cause significant damage to marine structures, thereby deteriorating the mechanical properties of steel and the bearing and deformation capacities of the overall structure. Therefore, in this paper, the electrochemical corrosion method was used to simulate the actual seawater corrosion, and the corrosion distribution characteristics and compressive mechanical properties of D36 steel plate welded joints in seawater were studied. Through scanning electron microscopy, we analysed the influence of welding and corrosion, that is, the different weld angles and degree of corrosion on the damage distribution of welded joints. The bearing and deformation capacities of the structure, as well as the failure mode and failure position of the structure are determined. Finally, through a quadratic regression analysis, the experimental results were used to develop a generalized constitutive model of corroded and welded damaged steel with corrosion degree and weld angles as the variables.
