The purpose of this study was to examine master's theses completed between 2000-2008, at Institutes of Educational Sciences of Turkish state universities in terms of the types of statistical tecniques used and of the fit between statistical techniques and the data at hand. A data collection instrument developed by the researchers was used in this qualitative text analysis. The results showed that quantitative studies were more prevalent than other research methods and descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient were more commonly used than multivariate parametric and nonparametric data analytic techniques.
