The paper presents one of the author's research results in the field of the preliminary aerodynamic optimization process. The optimal shape of commanding surfaces is obtained and described within the preliminary rocket aerodynamic estimation. Special attention is paid to defining the target function in a new manner, such that every deviation from the target function maximum value clearly and obviously points out which of target values is not attained and to what extent, i.e. that the chosen rocket shape does not completely provide for all previously set goals.
