  • An 8-bit microcomputer for on-line analyses of exercise electrocardiograms
    Zazula, Damjan ...
The article describes an 8-bit microcomputer built specially for on-line analyses of exercise electrocardiograms. The device may be connected, via an analog input circuit, to any standard ... cardiograph. Only one lead is processed at the same time but this one may be chosen among 12 standard leads before of during the exercise. An input ECG signal is first purified with active analog filters and then sampled with 10-bit A/D converter. All important data and analysis results are printed out via a printer while the hearth rate and elapsed time can be observed on two digital displays. One can enter the data and control the device interactively via an alphanumeric keyboard. The device let us know at every analysis the following parameters: the average heart rate, R wave amplitude, ratio between present and pre-exercise R wave, J point level, ST slope, and ST integral. It calculates the percentage of maximum attained with regard to theoretically maximum heart rate, and the percentage of attained to theoretically average oxygen consumption as well.
