    The mobile telephone network in Slovenia has in recent years expanded rapidly.A visible sign of this is the numerous base station antennas that havebeen erected on masts, roof-tops and walls of ... building.Sometimes this antennas are located in the densely populated areas. Therefore MOBITEL, d.d., ordered from Faculty of Electrical Engineering university of Ljubljana and The Institute of Occupational Safety of Republic of Slovenia an investigation in order to find out what are the actual levels of the electromagnetic radiation intensities in the surroundings of the base station antennas caused by the operation of the NMT and GSM systems mentioned. The conclusion of the extensive theoretical calculations and on the spot measurements is that the radiation intensities levels actually encountered on the field nowhere in the unrestricted areas exceed the level defined by the Slovenian government as well as defined in the widely accepted international standards for the safety of humans exposed to RF energy. This is in agreement with the results of the similar investigations in other countries.
