    Petek, Bojan

Historically, the language has been challenged many times by oppression and neglect that actually strengthened its survival abilities by using it as a tool of resistance. After Slovenia became independent in 1991 the Standard Slovenian could not be listed as being endangered whereas some dialects might be or become (Logar, 1993). There is, however, another challenge that Slovenia language in the merging information age-the state and maturity of its electronic resources and description that are necessary for the language to be used in a global village. This paper describes a project financially supported by the Slovenian Ministry of Education and Sport that tries to raise the awareness of opportunities broughtby the EC Socrates/Erasmus initiative. Specifically, a starting point of the project is to access the existing curricula and research activities in Speech Communication Sciences in Slovenia.
