  • Vloga socialne delavke v rehabilitaciji oseb po amputaciji
    Stevanovič, Jolanda
Disability causes vulnerability and insecurity of an individual since it affects his- or herself-image. This can consequently lead to changes in social relations within one's family as well is in ... work and wider social environment. The role of a social worker in a rehabilitation team treating a patient after amputation is to assist the patient in solving complex social problems and it is performed in constant cooperation with the other team members. It is important that problems are solved in a unified and comprehensive manner and that actual possibilities and prompt assistance are taken into consideration. A social worker must take into account the general principles of social work. The concept of assistance is based on the patient's and his or her family's co-operation in solving a problem. The first step of social work is to establish cooperation with the patient and to define the problem together with the patient. Uniqueness and personal decisions of an individual must be considered. Attention must be given to objective factors (the condition of physical disability, inadequate living conditions, insufficient financial status etc.) and subjective factors (problems with accepting disability, refusing help etc.) since they all influence the outcome of rehabilitation. Comprehensive treatment of a patient includes various methods of social work (work with an individual, work with relatives, social work in a group, community social work). The process of rehabilitation does not include only the patient but also his or her family and wider social environment. A social worker plays an important role in establishing contacts and providing information to the family and social environment and in providing feedback information from the social environment.(Abstract truncated at 2000 characters).
