  • The use of a water atomisation technique for frits : production of powder frits with improved characteristics
Lešer, Tadej ; Goršek, Andreja, 1961- ; Anžel, Ivan, inženir metalurgije in materialov
Water atomisation technology was employed to produce the powder forms of frits. These frits were compared to the frits obtained by the melting and grinding process that is normally the procedure used ... in the enamel industry. Two different compositions were used in this study. The powders were characterised using analytical techniques such as x-ray fluorescence, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, hot stage microscope, dilatometry and particle size analysis. It was established that the atomised powders had similar chemical compositions to the non-atomised ones, comparable transformation temperatures and matching coefficients of the linear thermal expansion (a). However, their morphologies and size distributions were different, which was to be expected due to the different procedures used. Nevertheless, the research showed that the atomization technique could be successfully employed for producing the powder forms of frits in the enamel industry.
