  • Noncritical holomorphic functions on Stein manifolds
    Forstnerič, Franc, 1958-
    In 1967 Gunning and Narasimhan proved that every open (=noncompact) Riemann surface admits a holomorphic function without critical points. The higher dimensional analogues of open Riemann surfaces ... are Stein manifolds which may be characterized as the closed complex submanifolds of the Euclidean spaces ▫$\mathbb C^N$▫. We prove the following main theorem: "Every Stein manifold admits a holomorphic function without critical points".
