  • Student today - what about tomorrow? : Attitudes and expectationd of students of Department of library and information science and publishing in Ljubljana

    To keep with the fast-changing world of information, educated information scientists are required. Future Slovene librarians can gain such an education at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. The ... students' expectations about the librarianship have changed. Those changes induced us into doing this research: what are the expectations of students when entering the fourth year study course and how those expectations change during the time of the study. The questionnaire was given to the students of the first and of the final year of the librarianship study course in 2001/02. The results were compared with the results of the previous reserach on the same subject. We discovered the differences between the expectations of students who have just started their study course, and their recent view of their study course and future profession, and the difference between one- and two- subject study programme, about the path where their knowledge of librarianship is going to take them and about their knowledge of their future profession. The results of this research are useful for future developments of the study course and for informations to be given to the future students of librarianship.
