  • Spremljanje anoreksije in bulimije nervoze na osnovi prvih obiskov v ambulantah primarne in sekundarne ravni zdravstvene dejavnosti v Sloveniji = Follow of anorexia and bulimia nervosa on the base of firts visits in the primary and secondary health care in Slovenia

    A survey of all first time visit records to the primary and secondary health care centres was carried out in order to determine the frequency, trends and other characteristics of anorexia (AN) and ... bulimia nervosa (BN) in the Slovenian population and to evaluate their epidemiologic extent. Included wererecords of all patients aged 7 to 49, who visited a doctor in a three yearperiod (1997-1999) because of AN and BN. The most important findings were:both disorders are more common in women (especially BN) and they occur mostly in the agegroup 15-19 years, but frequency (particularly of AN) is increasing in young people aged 10 to 14. Based on the information collected, the rate of first time visits to primary and secondary health care centres wascalculated. This clearly showed that AN and BN are an increasing public health problem. Results of the survey will be used for preparing measurable health aims, setting up strategies for health promotion and the prevention of the most common eating disorders.
