  • Zunajsklepni revmatizem = Extraarticular rheumatism
    Logar, Dušan, 1951-
The article describes common soft tissue problems encountered preferentially in adults. Fibromyalgia syndrome, an idiopathic, chronic pain syndrome, defined by widespread nonarticular musculosceletal ... pain and generalised tenderpoints is described more precisely. It affects women more frequently than men, and has a prevalence of approximately 1-2% of the population. Frequently encountered other soft tissue syndromes, such as psychogenic rheumatism, myofascial pain syndrome, enthesopathies, tendinitislbursitis syndromes, nerve entrapment syndromes and miscellaneous topics such as reflex-sympathetic dystrophy and paniculitis, are presented. Effective management requires a structured history, physical examination and definitive diagnosis that help distinguish the soft tissue problem from a joint problem and an inflammatory syndrome from a noninflammatory one. This article will hopefully enlighten the reader in distinguishing between all these conditions.Physical therapies, exercise strategies and medications are all known to decrease symptoms and to assist patients.
