    Health status of workers is presented based on data collection concerning sick-leave. Musculosceletal disorders as the most important cause for temporary absence from work with us and globally, have ... been pointed out. Database concerning sick-leave, the holder of which is the Institute of PublicHealth of the Republic of Slovenia and which is gathered on the basis ofCertificate of medically justified absence from work, were used for analysis. Data show a greater risk for workwomen, especiall y between 40 and 50 years of age. They expose Iumbar spine disorders as a leading trouble in this group which is equally represented in both sexes and cervical spine disorders which are more frequent in female population. While in men with backache, the absence from work prevails in mining industry and in forestry, in women production activities with other specific burdenings and hazards are in the foreground. Temporary absence from work owing to cervical spine disorders in production activities shows, that economic activity is in the foreground in both sexes - which indicates similar burdenings and hazards at the workplace. Due to big differences in risks and characteristics of population, it is necessary to tackle the preventive programmes for the diseases of musculosceletal system and connective tissue in a complex way, especially considering different aspects with the help of experts from different professions.
