    Specific allergen immunotherapy is a method of allergy treatment that involvesthe administration of specific allergens to suppress specific IgE, increase specific IgG, and reduce the clinical ... response in a patient on contact with the allergen. Specific allergen immunotherapy involves the administration of gradually increasing quantities of specific allergens to a patient until a dose is reached that is effective in reducing the severity of the disease on natural exposure. Specific allergen immunotherapy has been known since the 19th century in England. More and more trials have shown its safety and effectiveness in the treatment of stinging-insect hypersensitivity,allergic rhinitis or conjunctivitis and allergic asthma.
