    The aim of the study was to establish the essential kinematic variables defining competitive achievements in rotation technique of shot-put. Biomechanichal analysis was carried out on the Slovene top ... shot-putter placed 11th in the final at the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens. A three-dimensional video-system for kinematic analysis (APAS) was used. A fifteen segment model of a shot putter with eighteen referential points was defined. The findings of the study have shown that top achivement in rotation technique depends on the velocity of release, optimum release angle, on the reletionship between rotation movement and final acceleration of the shot, and on the angle velocity in elbow and shoulder of the release arm. Crucial phases which provide correct rhythm and cause high release velocities of the shot are: the phase with no support, second single support phase, and second double support phase.
