Obseg, vrsta, vsebina in avtorji prispevkov, objavljenih v Zobozdravstvenem vestniku od 2003 do 2012 = Scope, type, content and authors of contributions published in Zobozdravstveni vestnik in the years 2003-2012

Background: The aim of the study was to examine some characteristics of articles published in Zobozdravstveni vestnik (Slovenian Dental Journal) over a period of ten years (2003-2012), and to compare ...them with data obtained for the period 1993-2002. Materials and methods: Fifty issues of the journal from the period 2003-2012 were reviewed to determine the scope of individual volumes, number and type of contributions, number and affiliations of contributors, and fields covered in the articles. Results and discussion: During the ten-year period, the journal published 207 articles and 28 other contributions on a total of 1758 pages. Among the articles, therewere 130 professional reports and 77 research papers. More than one third of the articles had two authors. A total of 350 authors were staff members of the Division of Stomatology, and 10 of the Department of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery, UniversityMedical Centre Ljubljana. Of the remaining 135 authors, 87 were dentists and 48 belonged to other professions. The articles were mainly concerned with periodontology, dental implantology, dental diseases and endodontics, followed by general dentistry, orthodontics, and history and development of dentistry.Comparison with the previous decade showed that in the period 2003-2012, the number of contributions decreased, the number of pages increased, and a greater proportion of authors were from the Division of Stomatology; the clinical fields covered in the articles did not differ significantly between the two periods.
