    In this work we experimentally continuously cast Ni-based superalloy GMR 235 at various casting conditions. Due to the alternating drawing mode (withdrawal- stroke - resting period - reverse stroke), ... a periodic macrostructure was formed. During the withdrawal stroke ▫$\gamma$▫ -grains grew perpendicular to the mould or slightly inclined to the casting direction, on the other hand, during the resting period and the revese stroke they grew in the direction opposite to the casting one. The primary and secondary dendride arm spacings, as well as the size of eutectic pools increased from the rod surface to the rod centre. At the beginning of the drawing stroke occurred deformation of the solid shell, which caused inverse segregation and sometimes also the appearance of hot teras. The strength and toughness of GMR235 were suffucient to withstand deformation without endangering the reliability of continuous casting, indicating good ability of the investigated alloy for continuous casting.
