During the initial period of the COVID-19 pandemic, governments around the world implemented non-pharmaceutical interventions. For these policy interventions to be effective, authorities engaged in ...the political discourse of legitimising their activity to generate positive public attitudes. To understand effective COVID-19 policy, this study investigates public attitudes in South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States and how they reflect different legitimisation of policy intervention. We adopt a big data approach to analyse public attitudes, drawing from public comments posted on Twitter during selected periods. We collect the number of tweets related to COVID-19 policy intervention and conduct a sentiment analysis using a deep learning method. Public attitudes and sentiments in the three countries show different patterns according to how policy interventions were implemented. Overall concern about policy intervention is higher in South Korea than in the other two countries. However, public sentiments in all three countries tend to improve following implementation of policy intervention. The findings suggest that governments can achieve policy effectiveness when consistent and transparent communication take place during the initial period of the pandemic. This study contributes to the existing literature by applying big data analysis to explain which policies engender positive public attitudes. KCI Citation Count: 0

Drug allergies encompass a spectrum of immune-mediated hypersensitivity reactions with various mechanisms and clinical presentations. β-lactam drugs are common causes of drug allergies. A detailed ...clinical history as well as skin and drug provocation tests, are essential to diagnose drug allergies. The key to successful treatment is avoidance or discontinuation of the offending drug, and replacing it with a safe alternative. Cross-reactivities among β-lactam antibiotics should be considered when choosing alternative medications. Proper management of β-lactam allergies is important at the individual and population levels, to reduce the likelihood of drug allergies and prevent antibiotic-related adverse outcomes. PurposeA systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of smartphone-based mobile learning for nurses and nursing students.MethodsElectronic literature search of PubMed, ...Cochrane Library, Embase, SCOPUS, Web of Science, ProQuest Central, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), and Educational Resource Information Center (ERIC) was conducted. Two authors independently reviewed empirical studies for inclusion and extracted the design, sample size, intervention method, outcome variables, and statistical values of them. Methodological quality was assessed using Cochrane collaboration risk of bias tool. To estimate the effect size, meta-analysis was performed using R meta program.ResultsAuthors identified 11 randomized or nonrandomized controlled trials of a total of 3,419 studies. Overall effect sizes by random-effects model was large Hedges'g (g) = 1.12, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.72–1.52, with learning attitude (g = 1.69), skills (g = 1.41), knowledge (g = 1.47), and confidence in performance (g = 1.54). For heterogeneity, subgroup analyses using meta-analysis of variance were performed, but no significant difference was found. Finally, a funnel plot and Egger's regression test along with trim-and-fill analysis and fail-safe N were conducted to check for publication bias, but no significant bias was detected.ConclusionSmartphone-based mobile learning had significantly positive influence on nursing students' knowledge, skills, confidence in performance, and learning attitude. Smartphone-based mobile learning may be an alternative or supportive method for better education in nursing fields.
본 연구에서는 HPH의 C2C12 근육세포 분화 및 근위축 조절 활성을 평가하였다. HPH 제조를 위해 hemp seed 착유 후 탈지박에서 단백질을 추출하여 효소 가수분해를 시행했으며, alcalase＋flavourzyme 효소처리군에서 우수한 가수분해도가 확인되었다. 근육모세포 분화에 대한 실험에서 HPH는 분화 과정 중 myotube 형성 속도를 ...증가시키고 근육생성 전사인자(Myf5, MyoD) 및 MyHC의 단백질 발현을 농도 의존적으로 증가시켰다. 또한 DEX에 의한 근위축 세포모델에서 HPH는 myotube의 손실을 억제하였으며, 세포 내 ubiquitin ligase 발현을 감소시키고 MyoD와 MyHC의 발현을 증가시켰다. HPH의 이러한 활성은 원형 단백질인 HPI의 활성보다 월등히 우수하게 관찰되었다. 따라서 이러한 결과는 HPH가 근육분화 및 근위축에 관여하는 주요 인자들의 단백질 발현을 조절함으로써 myotube 형성을 촉진하고 근위축을 예방할 수 있는 가능성을 보여주며, 향후 동물모델에서의 검증 등 추가적인 연구를 통해 새로운 기능성식품 소재로써의 검증이 필요할 것으로 판단된다. Recently, interest in the nutritional and functional properties of industrial hemp seeds has increased. This study was performed to investigate the effects of hemp seed-derived protein hydrolysates (HPH) on myotube formation and muscle atrophy using C2C12 myoblasts. HPH was prepared by the enzymatic (alcalase＋flavourzyme or pepsin＋pancreatin) treatment of hemp seed protein isolate (HPI). HPH exhibited a higher degree of hydrolysis when treated with alcalase＋flavourzyme rather than pepsin＋pancreatin. During the differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts, HPH promoted myotube formation and increased the protein expressions of myogenic factor 5, myogenic differentiation 1 (MyoD), and myosin heavy chain (MyHC). In addition, HPH protected C2C12 myotubes against dexamethasone-induced muscle atrophy by increasing the protein expressions of MyoD and MyHC and reducing the expression of muscle RING finger-1. Furthermore, these effects of HPH were more potent than those of HPI. Thus, the results of this study suggest HPH has potential use as a functional food ingredient that might promote muscle differentiation and prevent muscle atrophy. KCI Citation Count: 0
