This study aimed to compare the surgical outcomes of total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and vaginally assisted natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) hysterectomy procedures in ...obese patients.
This cross-sectional study was conducted with 83 obese women (BMI > 30 kg/m
2
) who underwent TLH (35 patients) or vNOTES hysterectomy (48 patients) for benign gynecological indications. The duration of surgery, intra/postoperative complications, intra- and postoperative hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hct) levels, hospital stay, Visual analogue scale (VAS) scores at the postoperative 6th and 24th hours of the patients were compared.
There was no significant difference between TLH and vNOTES groups regarding age (49 vs. 52 years, p = 0.35), parity (2 vs. 3, p = 0.17), and uterine weight (290 vs. 230 g., p = 0.13) The median BMI was 31.6 kg/m
2
(30-42.2 kg/m
2
) in the TLH group and 31.9 kg/m
2
(30-54.6 kg/m
2
) in the vNOTES group (p = 0.31). The vNOTES hysterectomy group had significantly shorter durations of surgery (67.5 vs. 136 min) and postoperative hospitalization than the TLH group (p < 0.05 for all comparisons). Besides, the 6th-hour (6 vs. 7, p = 0.02) and 24th-hour (4 vs. 3, p < 0.001) VAS scores were significantly lower in the vNOTES hysterectomy group. The propensity-matched group analysis showed significantly lower 6th-hour and 24th-hour VAS scores and shorter duration of surgery (80 vs. 135 min, p < 0.001) in the vNOTES hysterectomy group than the TLH group.
vNOTES is a feasible technique in obese women who require a hysterectomy and provides favorable outcomes considering the shorter duration of surgery and postoperative hospitalization and lower pain scores.
The effect of isotretinoin on soluble VEGFRs has not been previously investigated. This study evaluate the effects of isotretinoin (13-cis-retinoic acid) on soluble VEGFR1 (sVEGFR1), soluble VEGFR2 ...(sVEGFR2) and soluble VEGFR3 (sVEGFR3).
The study included 38 patients (28 females, 10 males) receiving systemic isotretinoin treatment and 38 healthy individuals (28 females, 10 males) with similar age and gender characteristics. The blood samples of the patient group at third months and blood samples of the control group were compared in terms of sVEGFR1, sVEGFR2 and sVEGFR3 concentrations.
It was significant that sVEGFR1 was low and sVEGFR3 was high in patients receiving isotretinoin (p: .038, p: .021, respectively). There was no significant change in sVEGFR2 levels between the groups (p: .519).
We think that the effect of isotretinoin on sVEGFR1, sVEGFR2 and sVEGFR3 may be secondary to its effects on the VEGF family. However, after clarifying the effect of isotretinoin on the VEGF family, we think that it can be used in some tumors and vascular diseases.
The electrical and thermal behavior of nanoscale devices based on two-dimensional (2D) materials is often limited by their contacts and interfaces. Here we report the temperature-dependent thermal ...boundary conductance (TBC) of monolayer MoS2 with AlN and SiO2, using Raman thermometry with laser-induced heating. The temperature-dependent optical absorption of the 2D material is crucial in such experiments, which we characterize here for the first time above room temperature. We obtain TBC ∼ 15 MW m–2 K–1 near room temperature, increasing as ∼ T 0.65 in the range 300−600 K. The similar TBC of MoS2 with the two substrates indicates that MoS2 is the “softer” material with weaker phonon irradiance, and the relatively low TBC signifies that such interfaces present a key bottleneck in energy dissipation from 2D devices. Our approach is needed to correctly perform Raman thermometry of 2D materials, and our findings are key for understanding energy coupling at the nanoscale.

For this purpose, bibliometric analysis technique, VOS Viewer, is utilized. In this study, which is based on numerous literature publications on obesity, the link between the most important thematic areas published by obesity researchers and the authors is visualized on the map. This study presents a systematic review of the literature on the economic dimensions of obesity, from the first publication in 1994 to the present.
Randomised controlled trials (RCT) are considered as gold standart for clinical studies because of their standart protocols, well-defined case and control groups, and their statistical methods for ...pre-defined outcomes. Real-world studies (RWS) are generally performed to evaluate and/or obtain long term efficacy and safety data of a particular drug-intervention or application in populations who were not included in RCT for various resons or in real world settings such as routine health care systems. As RWS give the opportunity for comparisons which do not exist in the original protocols of RCT; currently they have been the choice of research method in the clinical drug investigations. Increasing use of non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants (NOAC) in routine clinical practice and their efficacy and safety data coming from RCT have been supported by the data and evidences obtained from the real world studies. In this article; following a brief evaluation of advantage and limitations of RWS, some real world data and evidences about rivaroxaban using various study designs such as noninterventional observations, registries and database analysis will be reviewed and summarized.
The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between risk of catastrophic health expenditure for surgical care and the share of public health expenditures in total health expenditures, ...which is an important indicator of health system structure, and country’s income level. The relationship between risk of catastrophic health expenditure and public health expenditures and country’s income level was examined with panel regression analysis for 97 countries for the period of 2003–2015 via Stata 13.0 computer program. We found that both the share of public health expenditure in total health expenditures and the income have a statistically significant negative impact on the risk of catastrophic health expenditure for surgical care services. Catastrophic health expenditure endangers the routine expenditure and quality of life of households. In addition, it causes a decline in the economic and welfare indicators of countries and it negatively affects the quality of life of the households. That’s why, studies on the determinants of catastrophic health expenditures are both economically and sociopolitically important.
Stainless-steel has become a widely preferred material type in the marine, aerospace, sanitary, industrial equipment, and construction industries due to its superior corrosion resistance, high ...mechanic properties, high strength, formability, and thermal and electrical conductivity. In this study, a multi-objective optimization method based on grey relational analysis was employed to optimize the fiber laser-cutting parameters of cutting speed, focal position, frequency, and duty cycle. Surface roughness and kerf width, which are the two most important parameters that determine laser-cutting quality, were simultaneously optimized. In order to assign the optimum level of each parameter individually, the Taguchi technique was applied. The cutting surface morphology was examined according to the grey relational grade with a 3D optical profilometer, and maps of the cutting surfaces were created. According to the results achieved using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), it was seen that the parameters that affected surface roughness and kerf width the most were duty cycle, with a contribution rate of 49.01%, and frequency, with a contribution rate of 31.2%. Frequency was the most important parameter in terms of multiple responses, with a contribution rate of 18.55%. Duty cycle and focal position were the second and third most effective parameters, respectively. It was determined that the optimum parameter values for minimum surface roughness and minimum kerf width that could be obtained with the fiber laser cutting of 20 mm thick AISI 304L (DIN EN 1.4301) material were 310 mm/min cutting speed, −11 mm focal position, 105 Hz frequency, and 60% duty cycle.
A healthy diet is important at every stage of life. We aimed to determine the serum vitamin D and iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 levels in healthy children younger than 48 months and to ...investigate the relationship between nutrition and micronutrients in children of this age.
In this observational study children who presented to the Pediatrics Clinic of our hospital during the period 2015–2022 were included. Vitamin D and other nutritional parameters (serum folate, vitamin B12, iron, ferritin) were evaluated from the study participants' serum samples during the outpatient clinic visit (jaundice check-up, pre-circumcision surgery, etc.).
Overall, 766 cases were included in the study. Vitamin D was higher in the group that was fed only breast milk (p = 0.019), and vitamin D insufficiency was statistically higher in the formula group (p = 0.015). Hemoglobin levels were significantly higher in the formula group (p = 0.007). The folic acid level was found to be normal in all infants, and was higher in formula-fed infants (p = 0.012). Vitamin B12 was found to be significantly higher in infants fed with formula (p = 0.001). Vitamin D deficiency was most common in infants aged 25–48 months (p < 0.001). Similarly, vitamin D insufficiency (12–20 ng/mL) was detected in infants aged between 25 and 48 months (p < 0.001).
Micronutrients such as calcium, folic acid, iron, vitamin D, and iodine are critical in early fetal development from pregnancy onward. It is vital to raise awareness of this issue for mothers, starting from pregnancy, and for mothers to feed their babies more carefully in the first years of life.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of medium type on neonatal birthweight in singleton, term infants conceived following
assisted reproductive technology (ART).
Methods: The records of 352 patients ...who gave birth after in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment from January to December 2014
in the Eurofertil IVF Center using a time-lapse embryo culture system were analyzed. Data analysis was performed using two
available culture media: Vitrolife (n=267) and MediCult (n=85).
Results: The mean birthweight of the infants from Vitrolife cultures was 3006 grams, though it was 3128 grams for the offspring
from MediCult (p=0.154). There was no significant difference between neonates born using either medium in terms of birthweight.
Conclusion: There was no association between neonatal birthweight after ART and the in vitro embryo culture media used in
this population. These findings are important in order to assess human embryo in vitro culture safety. To evaluate if culture media
affects prenatal outcome and development, more randomized, controlled studies would be needed.
