Benzotriazole (Hbta) complexes with Hg(II) and Pd(II) of the types: Hg(bta)2 (1), Hg(bta)2(diphos); diphos = dppe (2), dppp (3) or dppb (4), Hg(bta)2(PPh3)2 (5), Pd(Hbta)2Cl2 (6), Pd(bta)Cl2 (7) and ...PdCl(bta)(PPh3)2.DMSO (8) were prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, conductivity measurements, infrared, 1H- and 31P-{1H} NMR spectra.
Pd(PPh3)(μ-bta)Cl2. DMSO (8) was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural information exposed that benzotriazole acts as a bidentate bridging ligand bonded through the deprotonated nitrogen and the neutral nitrogen atoms. The hydrogen storage ability of complexes (1–4) was studied after detecting their BET surface area. The results show that complex (1) is able to store 3.35 wt% physically at 77 K under 120 bar.

Mn2(bit)4 (H2O)2 complex was used in this study as a novel precursor for the synthesis of MnO2 nanoflowers. The inorganic precursor was synthesized from the reaction between chloride salt of Mn(II) ...and benzisothiazolinate. The chemical composition and the nanostructure of the prepared MnO2 catalyst was characterized using several identification techniques (XRD, Thermal gravimetry, FTIR, N2-physisorption, and SEM-EDX). The results showed that the new precursor is a suitable Mn source for the synthesis of highly crystalline MnO2 nanoflowers of a small particle size with a large surface area. Manganese dioxide nanoflowers were examined for its catalytic ability in the oxidative desulfurization process of a model and real diesel fuels. Oxidative desulfurization conditions have been found to influence the removal efficiency of thiophene, 4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene and dibenzothiophene. The optimum desulfurization parameters were examined, and the results show that the amount of catalyst is 0.5 g, extraction solvent/ oil ratio is 6, reaction time is 35 min, reaction temperature is 65°C and oxidant: sulfur (O/S) mole ratio is 4. Under these optimum conditions, the MnO2 catalyst is capable of removing more than 95% of thiophenes from commercial and crude diesel, in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as an oxidant. The newly prepared catalyst is recyclable for seven sequential oxidative desulfurization runs without the requirement for reactivation steps. This catalytic reaction including TBHP as an effective oxidant was presented through a suggested mechanistic pathway.

Protic ionic liquids (PILs) that emerge as promising compounds are of great interest in industry and academia due to their easy synthesis and unique physical and chemical properties. This study aims ...to evaluate the antimicrobial activities against various microorganisms and the antiproliferative effects of four PILs namely, the PILs tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium dodecanoate (TALA), tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium tetradecanoate (TAMA), tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium palmitate (TAPA) and tris(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium stearate (TASA). Antiproliferative effects of PILs were investigated in vitro on breast cancer cell line (MDA-MB 231), colon cancer cell line (HT29) and prostate cancer cell line (PC3). Furthermore, minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) were established for PILs tested against rods, cocci and fungi. The antimicrobial activities of the PILs are strongly related to the alkyl chain length of the anion.

Urinary tract stone disease is seen at a level of 1%-2% in childhood(< 18 years). In recent years, however, there has been a marked increased in pediatric stone disease, particularly in adolescence.A ...carbohydrateand salt-heavy diet and a more sedentary lifestyle are implicated in this increase.Although stone disease is rare in childhood, its presence is frequently associated with metabolic or anatomical disorders or infectious conditions, for which reason there is a high possibility of post-therapeutic recurrence.Factors such as a high possibility of recurrence and increasing incidence further enhance the importance of minimally invasive therapeutic options in children, with their expectations of a long life.In children in whom active stone removal is decided on,the way to achieve the highest level of success with the least morbidity is to select the most appropriate treatment modality. Thanks to today’s advanced technology, renal stones that were once treated only by surgery can now be treated with minimally in-vasive techniques, from invasion of the urinary system in an antegrade(percutaneous nephrolithotomy) or retrograde(retrograde intrarenal surgery) manner or shock wave lithotripsy to laparoscopic stone surgery. This compilation study examined studies involving the RIRS procedure, the latest minimally invasive technique,in children and compared the results of those studies with those from other techniques.
Aim: To evaluate the effects of melatonin on antioxidant enzyme levels and histopathologic changes in dizocilpine (MK-801)-induced psychosis model rat testis. Methods: A total of 24 adult male ...Wistar-Albino rats were divided into three groups with 8 in each. Group I was used as control. Rats in Group II were injected with MK-801 (0.5 mg/kg body weight i.p. for 5 days). In addition to MK-801, melatonin (50 mg/kg body weight i.p. once a day for 5 days) was injected into the rats in Group Ⅲ. The testes were harvested bilaterally for biochemical and histopathological examinations. Antioxidant enzyme activities, malondialdehyde, protein carbonyl and nitric oxide (NO) levels in testicular tissues were analyzed using spectrophotometric analysis methods. Histopathological examinations of the testes were also performed. Results: MK-801 induced testicular damage, which resulted in significant oxidative stress (OS) by increasing the levels of antioxidant enzymes. The malondialdehyde, protein carbonyl and NO levels were increased in testicular tissues of rats. Treatment with melatonin led to significant decrease in oxidative injury. Administration of melatonin also reduced the detrimental histopathologic effects caused by MK-801. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that MK-801 cause OS in testicular tissues of rats and treatment with melatonin can reduce the harmful effects'of MK-801.
