The world is worsely hit by the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in increased morbidity and mortality. Increased mortality has been observed in older adults with multiple comorbidities. Six-minute walk ...distance (6MWD) at admission can help us to guide the requirement of oxygen during hospital stay that can be used to determine which patient can be managed at home.
This study was a prospective observational study conducted on COVID-19 patients admitted at AIIMS, New Delhi, from October to December 2020. Patients aged more than 60 years were included in the study and underwent 6-min walk tests. Polypharmacy and multimorbidity were also assessed along with dyspnea which was measured on BORG scale.
< 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Statistical software STATA (version 14.2) was used for all the analyses.
The mean age of the study population was 68.76 (7.4). Oxygen saturation prior to the 6-MWT was normal and has significantly higher than the post test (
≤ 0.001). 6MWD was significantly correlated with pre values of oxygen saturation. 6MWD was observed more in patients who did not require oxygen during hospital stay. Self-reported dyspnea, pulse rate, oxygen saturation, and systolic blood pressure were significantly associated with the patients who had an oxygen requirement during the hospital stay.
Self-reported dyspnea after 6MWT was found to be associated with oxygen requirement during hospital stay. Patients who have covered more distance in 6-min walk test have less oxygen requirement during hospital stay hence can be managed at home. This will reduce the health-care burden and will help to tackle the outburst during the ongoing pandemic.
Elderly people account for more than 9% of the global population, and more than 6% of the Indian population. Covid-19 has badly affected the older population, identification of risk factors for ...severe disease and early intervention results in reduced mortality. Older adults may have a varied spectrum of presentation which ranges from mild to severe disease. Milder diseases are more in older adults without prior comorbidities whereas severity increases with increase in number of illness. Till date there is no definitive treatment and vaccines are also at different stages of trial only preventive methods and early detection of cases are important tools for fighting this pandemic. Dedicated centre's for elder care as well as trained geriatricians are very few in India. Prevention should be the most important strategy for older adults. Follow social distancing and maintain a distance of 1 meter from others even if you are healthy. Wash hands repeatedly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer and generous use of masks. Older adults should be encouraged to take their regular medication and the baseline disease should be under controlled. Frequent teleconsultation from the primary physician should be done repeatedly to identify the symptoms and also control of baseline disease. Considering Covid-19 increased mortality and severity in the older population we are providing practical suggestions for family physicians while managing elderly Covid patients.

One of the implications is the significance of fostering EI and AI integration in enhancing employee well-being. Future studies may examine these constraints and investigate intervention strategies for more healthful workplaces in the AI era. This research offers insightful information about the intricate dynamics of EI, AI, and well-being, offering guidance for organizational practices and future research endeavors.
This study explores the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and the workplace environment among female employees. The research investigates emotional intelligence levels and their impact ...on workplace relationships. The study employs a cross-sectional survey design to collect data from female employees, focusing on self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. A sample of 99 women employees participated in the survey. Data analysis includes descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, chi-square tests of independence, cluster analysis, linear regression, and factor analysis. Results indicate significant associations between emotional intelligence levels and workplace ratings. K-means clustering identifies three clusters based on emotional intelligence and workplace ratings, reflecting different levels of emotional intelligence and corresponding workplace ratings. However, linear regression analysis suggests that emotional intelligence does not significantly predict workplace ratings. Factor analysis reveals that while a single factor might explain a portion of the variance in emotional intelligence, there may be other factors at play as well, possibly two. These findings provide insights into the complex relationship between emotional intelligence and the workplace environment among female employees, emphasizing the need for further research to fully understand the underlying dynamics.
