In view of the state of hydromorphological preservation of river corridors in the Slovenian hydrographic network and because of demands imposed by domestic and European legislature concerning water ...resource management and environmental protection, certain sections of rivers and streams that were for various reasons regulated in the past, will have to be rehabilitated. Permanent solutions to such issues demand careful planning of rehabilitation on suitable sections of rivers and streams, adequate positioning within physical planning acts, as well as streamlined administrative procedures and devised maintenance of rehabilitation areas. Because the process demands the return of formerly taken water surfaces into the domain of water ecosystems and dynamics of hydromorphological processes, and consequentially maintenance of regained surfaces, the public becomes an important factor, which is a position, granted by domestic and European laws. Last, but not least, successful execution of rehabilitation of water corridors, besides planning, administration and consistent public participation, demands knowledge about good practices of project management, as well as technical execution of such projects.

The Sussex-Huawei Locomotion-Transportation recognition challenge presents a unique opportunity to the activity-recognition community - providing a large, real-life dataset with activities different ...from those typically being recognized. This paper describes our submission (team JSI Classic) to the competition that was organized by the dataset authors. We used a carefully executed machine learning approach, achieving 90% accuracy classifying eight different activities (Still, Walk, Run, Bike, Car, Bus, Train, Subway). The first step was data preprocessing, including a normalization of the phone orientation. Then, a wide set of hand-crafted domain features in both frequency and time domain were computed and their quality was evaluated. Finally, the appropriate machine learning model was chosen (XGBoost) and its hyper-parameters were optimized. The recognition result for the testing dataset will be presented in the summary paper of the challenge 13.
To aid the formation of the suggested areas of permanently protected agricultural land, an allocation algorithm was developed and used to establish the irrigation water use potential of surface ...waters streams, reservoirs, groundwater and treated municipal wastewater, with the case study area of Slovenia. The result is a map of the irrigation water use potential, regarding the location and water source use suitability for irrigation. The map shows areas where the permanent protection of agricultural land would be either most suitable either least suitable. The appearance of the map depends on several water management aspects, i.e. water demand management, water use administration, the targeted management of water infrastructure and the development of new water sources.
In the paper, we present a process of development planning for the distribution power network at the Ravne steelworks for a ten-year period, precisely for 2011-2020. In the first part we describe a ...general approach to network planning, lay down the planning objectives and determine the methodology and technical and economic criteria according to which the network will be developed. Next, the current state of the Ravne power network (topology, equipment, power consumption) is described. Based on the measurement results, the state of the power quality is assessed with a particular emphasize laid on the flicker and harmonic distortion. We then make a simulation model of the steelworks power distribution network by using the DIgSILENT PowerFactory program. In the last part we propose a development plan for the Ravne steelworks based on the general planning criteria. We considered the current state of the power network (load, power quality), age of the equipment used, planned reconstruction and the predicted growth in electricity consumption. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT

In recent years, activity recognition (AR) has become prominent in ubiquitous systems. Following this trend, the Sussex-Huawei Locomotion-Transportation (SHL) recognition challenge provides a unique ...opportunity for researchers to test their AR methods against a common, real-life and large-scale benchmark. The goal of the challenge is to recognize eight everyday activities including transit. Our team, JSI-Deep, utilized an AR approach based on combining multiple machine-learning methods following the principle of multiple knowledge. We first created several base learners using classical and deep learning approaches, then integrated them into an ensemble, and finally refined the ensemble's predictions by smoothing. On the internal test data, the approach achieved 96% accuracy, which is a significant leap over the baseline 60%.
Analize morfološkega stanja vodotokov v Mestni občini Ljubljana in raziskovalne naloge o ljubljanski hidrografski mreži opozarjajo na slabo stanje ohranjenosti morfologije vodotokov v tem območju.
Analyses of the morphological state of urban streams and rivers in the Municipality of Ljubljana and research concerning the hydrographical network show that the condition of their morphological ...preservation is alarming. Efforts put in the new spatial development concept, guidelines and proposals for urban rehabilitation are therefore also an opportunity for rehabilitation measures on the municipal hydrographical network. Adequate care should be given to their improved morphological state even because of the recently adopted European framework water directive (annex 5), that after a certain period demands such a status of surface water in signatory countries.
Information technologies can assist the elderly in their daily lives and thus improve their quality of life. Here, we present a system that was developed within the framework of the EU H2020 project ...IN LIFE to make the elderly feel more secure. The system consists of a smartwatch, a tablet, and a web portal for carers. The smartwatch has several functionalities; the most important are automatic fall detection, SOS button, communication with carers, location detection in case of emergency, and general activity monitoring. The smartwatch communicates with the server via GSM, therefore it does not depend on wireless internet or Bluetooth connection. The tablet acts as a virtual doorman and also as an interface for the carer, while the portal acts as a central information hub for notifications, scheduling of tasks, and user overview. We present the initial feedback from the users in a pilot study and discuss some modifications that we carried out considering this feedback.
