The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between shyness, distress disclosure and loneliness of high school students. Distress disclosure would moderate ...the association between shyness and loneliness. Gender difference in shyness, distress disclosure, and loneliness was examined in present study.
The sample consisted of 608 high school students. The instruments used in this study included “Shyness Scale”, “Distress Disclosure Index ”, and “Loneliness Scale”. The empirical data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and multiple hierarchical regression. The findings of this study were as follows:
1.Shyness of high school students is moderately. Four dimensions of shyness are arranged in decreasing order of mean scores:“Cognition”, “Affection”, “Behavior” , “Physiology”. And gender differences are no significant on shyness, but male students have higher “Behavior” than females.
