Academic dishonesty is a pervasive problem undermining the effectiveness of educational institutions. From a motivational perspective, researchers have proposed achievement goals as antecedents of ...academic dishonesty. Empirical findings corroborate the notion that mastery goals (focus on learning and competence development) are negatively linked to academic dishonesty. However, even though theoretical considerations suggest positive links between performance goals (focus on competence demonstration) and academic dishonesty, empirical findings are mixed. To provide a better understanding of how goals matter for academic dishonesty, we conducted three-level meta-analyses encompassing 163 effect sizes from 33 studies and a total of 19,787 participants. We found a disproportional use of correlational designs (using self-report measures of academic dishonesty) and personal goal measures (opposed to surrounding goal structures). Evidence of publication bias was not found. Our results confirmed the expected negative associations between mastery goals and academic dishonesty and revealed heterogenous findings for performance goals, with indications of positive associations within behavioral and intentional dishonesty measures, but not within self-reports. To further clarify the associations between achievement goals and academic dishonesty, we call for more methodological rigor in the measurement of goals and dishonesty as well as multi-methods approaches when investigating their interplay.

L’acarien du conduit auriculaire du lapin, Psoroptes cuniculi, provoque des affections dermatologiques graves. Les données épidémiologiques concernant les infestations par P. cuniculi sont importantes pour la santé publique.
Objectif
Déterminer la fréquence des infestations par P. cuniculi chez les lapins de compagnie et évaluer les facteurs épidémiologiques associés à l'infestation.

Coelhos são importantes produtores de carne e fibras em todo o mundo, e são também populares animais de estimação. O ácaro de orelha de coelhos, Psoroptes cuniculi, é responsável por causar quadros graves de lesões dermatológicas. Dados epidemiológicos sobre as infestações por P. cuniculi são importantes para a saúde pública.
Objetivo
Determinar a frequência de infestação por P. cuniculi em coelhos de estimação e avaliar os fatores epidemiológicos associados com a infestação.

200 coelhos de estimação apresentados para cuidados veterinários entre 2021 e 2022.

Para la identificación de los ácaros del oído se utilizó examen físico, otoscopia y microscopía. Se analizó la asociación con edad, sexo, índice de masa corporal (IMC), raza, alimentación y manejo del alojamiento.
Resultados
De los 200 conejos, 59 (29,5%) fueron positivos para P. cuniculi. Sólo el sexo femenino tuvo asociación positiva con P. cuniculi.

En el presente artículo se realiza una revisión de las tendencias en la aplicación de videojuegos en la industria y en la educación, tomando como marco el modelo MDA (Mechanics, Dynamics y Aesthetics), así como se revisan algunas definiciones de conceptos necesarios para el entendimiento y análisis de estos productos digitales. Al final, se concluye en la importancia de los videojuegos por su capacidad de generar motivación y enfoque, por lo que su aplicación en entornos distintos a los de entretenimiento generaría muchos beneficios.
The escalating prevalence of Parkinson’s disease (PD) underscores the need for innovative therapeutic interventions since current palliative measures, including the standard l-Dopa formulations, face ...challenges of tolerance and side effects while failing to address the underlying neurodegenerative processes. Here, we introduce DAD9, a novel conjugate molecule that aims to combine symptomatic relief with disease-modifying strategies for PD. Crafted through knowledge-guided chemistry, the molecule combines a nonantibiotic doxycycline derivative with dopamine, preserving neuroprotective attributes while maintaining dopaminergic agonism. This compound exhibited no off-target effects on PD-relevant cell functions and sustained antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the tetracycline precursor. Furthermore, it effectively interfered with the formation and seeding of toxic α-synuclein aggregates without producing detrimental oxidative species. In addition, DAD9 was able to activate dopamine receptors, and docking simulations shed light onto the molecular details of this interaction. These findings position DAD9 as a potential neuroprotective dopaminergic agonist, promising advancements in PD therapeutics.
Gamification has permeated education as a strategy to improve the teaching-learning process. Research shows that gamified reward systems based on badges, leaderboards, and avatars modifies the ...learning environment and student attitudes. This research aimed primarily to assess the change in attitude towards mathematics in high school students through a gamified methodology involving a reward system managed through a web platform called Gamit! This platform was developed by professors from two Latin American universities to manage gamification in a way that ensured that the anonymity of the class rankings was maintained. A mixed (QUAN-Qual) and quasi-experimental methodological approach was used for this study; two questionnaires were applied to 454 high school students and a focus group was performed with a group of seven professors. The quantitative analysis was processed with SPSS and consisted of ANOVAS and post hoc tests for more than two samples, while the focus group analysis was performed through inductive analysis. Results show benefits for professors and learners. Students improved their attitudes toward mathematics, reducing anxiety and improving willingness, while professors found a dynamic and optimal way to manage gamification on Gamit!
To organise future behaviour, it is important to remember both the central and contextual aspects of a situation. We examined the impact of contextual threat or safety, learned through verbal ...instructions, on face identity recognition. In two studies (N = 140), 72 face-context compounds were presented each once within an encoding session, and an unexpected item/source recognition task was performed afterwards (including 24 new faces). Hierarchical multinomial processing tree modelling served to estimate individual parameters of item (face identity) and source memory (threat or safety context) as well as guessing behaviour. Results show that language was highly effective in establishing threatening and safe context conditions. In Study 1, a fleeting picture stream (1 s per picture) led to poor item and source recognition. Prolonged presentation times (Study 2 with 6 s per picture) improved face memory but no contextual modulation was observed. Thus, incidental face learning was surprisingly poor and rapidly changing contextual settings might have interfered with the accurate encoding of face identity information and item-source binding.
