Cerklje ob krki je najdišče z najstarejšimi ostanki zgodnjeslovanske poselitve na Dolenjskem. Analize lončenine in radiokarbonskih datacij so nakazale dve fazi poselitve, prvo v 6. st. in v prvi ...polovici 7., drugo med sredino 10. in sredino 12. st. Tri pridobljene radiokarbonske datacije nakazujejo naselitev Slovanov v dolino krke v času med letoma 585 in 660, verjetno povezano z odselitvijo langobardov v Italijo leta 568 in prihodom Avarov v Panonsko nižino. najdbe kosti visokoraslega goveda italskega porekla morda kažejo na roparske pohode na ozemlje pod upravo Bizanca, ki jih omenjajo pisni viri. četrta radiokarbonska datacija in lončenina praškega tipa z arhaičnimi ustji pa dopuščata možnost, da so manjše skupine Slovanov tu bivale pred sredino 6. st., kar povezujemo z možnim angažmajem Slovanov pri varovanju meje vzhodnorimskega cesarstva ali pri pohodih bizantinske vojske z območij južne Donave proti Italiji, v katerih so služili kot najemniški vojaki. Mlajšo fazo poselitve v Cerkljah povezujemo z agrarnim zaledjem gospostva Starega gradu v Podbočju.
Na najdišču Nova tabla pri Murski Soboti sta bili iz vzorcev oglja v jamah, poimenovanih SZ 6 in SO 149A, pridobljeni 14C-dataciji, ki nakazujeta, da je bilo najdišče poseljeno že v prvi polovici 6. ...stoletja. Lončenina iz polnil omenjenih jam je primerljiva s t. i. lončenino praškega tipa s hrvaških, slovaških, čeških, poljskih, nemških in ukrajinskih najdišč. Na Slovaškem in v Nemčiji so jame in grobovi s primerljivo lončenino datirani tudi s pomočjo 14C-datacij, na ukrajinskih najdiščih pa s tipokronologijo kovinskih predmetov in bizantinskimi novci. Zgodnja naselitev nosilcev praške kulture, najverjetneje zgodnjih Slovanov, na zahodne obronke Panonske nižine je utemeljena tudi s prostorsko razporejenostjo poznoantične in langobardske poselitve v 6. stoletju, z jezikovnimi analizami in s prvimi omembami Slovanov v Panoniji v pisnih virih.

In the period from 1999 to 2008, as part of motorway construction works, comprehensive archaeological excavations were conducted in the part of the Prekmurje region between the banks of the Mura ...River and the town of Murska Sobota, Slovenia. Numerous remains were unearthed that can be associated with the first Slavic settlement in the area of the Eastern Alps and Northern Adriatic. In Nova Tabla, 189 residential structures from the early Middle Ages were examined. On the basis of typology and comparison with other related sites, and with the help of numerous radiocarbon dating tests, the Nova Tabla settlement has been divided into two larger cultural and time horizons: Murska Sobota 1 and 2, with interstages of development encompassing the period from the sixth until the beginning of the ninth century. The inventory of pit SO 11 with a fragment of a simply made small jug with a loosely curved mouth can be classified as belonging to the oldest early Slavic settlement remains in Nova Tabla. The reconstructed small pot with its slender shaped body, indefinitely shaped mouth, hand-made with a porous undecorated surface, is a good representative of Prague Culture pottery and has the recognisable workmanship characteristic of the earthenware of the first Slavic horizon of Murska Sobota 1. Different diagnostic methods have been used for the laboratory confirmation of leptospirosis. Molecular diagnostic techniques are not only faster and more sensitive than culture analysis, but can ...also detect a Leptospira infection before the appearance of antibodies. The aim of the present study was to analyze and compare two different PCR approaches applied to blood and urine specimens obtained from patients with clinical manifestations that were suggestive of leptospirosis. Furthermore, the results of these different PCR approaches were compared with the results of culture and serology analyses.
A total of 400 samples (234 blood or 58.5% and 166 urine of 41.5%) from 310 Slovenian patients with clinical manifestations suggestive of leptospirosis were tested using conventional PCR assays targeting the rrs gene and RT-PCR targeting the lipL32 gene. Additionally, culture, serology and sequence analysis were performed for the majority of these samples. The PCR and RT-PCR results were concordant in 376 out of 400 of these samples (94.0%). Conventional PCR was positive for 27 out of 400 samples (6.8%) and RT-PCR was positive for 47 out of 400 samples (11.8%). Culture and microscopic agglutination tests supported these diagnoses.
A comparison of the two PCR methods indicated that the RT-PCR targeting of the lipL32 gene was faster, more sensitive and more specific for the determination of Leptospira DNA in these clinical samples.

Despite that, we successfully isolated 12 ...human Leptospira strains isolated from patients between 2002 and 2020 and used various methods for the phenotypic and genotypic characterization of the strains, including matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) using our own MALDI-TOF data library, melting temperature analysis of the amplified lfb1 gene, determination of Leptospira serogroups using rabbit immune sera, NotI-RFLP of the whole Leptospira genome, multilocus sequence typing (MLST) of seven housekeeping genes, and whole-genome sequencing (WGS)-based typing. We confirmed the presence of four pathogenic Leptospira species (L. kirschneri, L. interrogans, L. borgpetersenii, and L. santarosai) and three serogroups: Grippotyphosa, Icterohaemorrhagiae, and Sejroe. MALDI-TOF identified three of seven isolates at the species level and four isolates at the genus level. Serovars of 8 of the 10 strains were determined using NotI-RFLP. MLST showed that the clinical isolates belonged to sequence types ST17, ST110, and ST155. WGS confirmed the analysis of Leptospira strains using conventional methods. In addition, WGS provided better taxonomic resolution for isolate DDA 10944/10.
