Various possibilities for collecting volunteer-provided geographical information in geodesy make it possible to engage volunteers for different purposes. In this paper, a study of the willingness of ...volunteers to report changes on topographic maps based on an online survey is presented. The survey was answered by 653 Slovenian respondents who use various online or classic topographic maps in their free time or at work and are willing to report their knowledge of changes in space or errors in maps to the map-updating institution. The survey's main finding is that 56% of respondents would use any online application to report changes on maps, 38% of respondents would prefer to report changes via email, and only 4% of respondents would prefer to report changes by phone. We also analysed the potential use of different functionalities of a web application for collecting changes and found that the most important functionalities for volunteers are those that give the most in-depth feedback (i.e., that a contribution has been submitted, that it is being verified, that it has been considered, that it has been deleted). The willingness of potential volunteers to use the various proposed functionalities also frequently depends on their current involvement with social networking sites or in volunteer associations and on their age group.
Outside the main mountain ranges and high North and South regions, individual isolated very small glaciers are the only glacier remnants and exceptional high-mountain active geomorphosites, which can ...be used to represent climate change consequences first hand to the local general public. The isolated, very small Triglav glacier in Slovenia was used to represent 3D glacier area changes for the period 1829–2016, together with long-term meteorological changes. Spatio-temporal changes of the glacier were derived mainly from old images and postcards with the help of interactive orientation (monoplotting), which enables the acquisition of a 3D glacier boundary from a single image by using a modern detailed digital elevation model. Very intuitive 3D visualisation was prepared, which shows the spatio-temporal changes of the glacier area, together with changes in average annual temperature and maximum annual snow depth. The last two are presented by colour palettes, where red colours represent stages when temperatures or maximum snow depths deviate from long-term averages in a negative way, meaning accelerating the glacier area reduction. Blue colours are used for stages when these parameters deviate from long-term averages in a positive way, meaning preserving the glacier area. From this 3D visualisation, one can easily recognise which meteorological parameter is the most important for the Triglav glacier preservation; this is the maximum annual snow depth. Such kind of 3D visualisation has a great potential for promotion of other active or evolving passive geomorphosites too.

The willingness of potential volunteers to use the various proposed functionalities also frequently depends on their current involvement with social networking sites or in volunteer associations and ...on their age group. Most European surveying and mapping agencies that are already testing or even using VGI to obtain additional information during the process of updating topographic maps are using purpose-developed online interactive maps or applications where volunteers enter data, the campaign organiser verifies it and later uses it as a complementary source to upgrade the topographic map (Triglav Čekada and Lisec, 2019). In this questionnaire we asked potential volunteers from Slovenia if they would be willing to provide information about changes or errors on topographic maps, and how they think a system for collecting such changes should work. The survey consisted of 29 questions, which are divided into the following thematic groups: - the respondent's previous activity in the field of national and international online volunteer initiatives, that can be considered as VGI, - which type of maps (online or classic printed) they use and for which purpose, - the preferred way in which the web application for reporting changes and errors on the maps should be designed, - how active are the respondents in their free time or how deeply involved are they in amateur activities, - general statistical questions on gender, age, education, occupation and hobbies.
Thematic maps are important for understanding water and its dynamics: they provide an overview of the state of water and water infrastructure, and they also have an important warning role. In the ...process of water management, many maps are needed. In order to provide sufficient quality, consistency, timeliness and coverage of the areas, maps have to be managed in an integrated way. Therefore, we propose the introduction of a system of thematic maps for water management in the form of a web portal, which takes into account the requirements of both managers and the legislation on water and spatial information. The concept of the system provides content composition, principles that the system must meet, proposes the use of modern forms of maps and an economical establishment of the system by using a joint editorial design, printon-demand function and open source solutions. An extensive list of thematic maps was created after examining the assessment area and the requirements of the current legislation. The system of thematic maps for water management is an attempt to establish order when displaying spatial data related to water, and to encourage experts' participation in water management and to include the public in the process of acquiring and controlling spatial data.
A polynomial model of magnetic declination for the area of Slovenia is presented. The model enables calculations of magnetic declination that are, due to its local characteristics, more accurate than ...the results of the global models. The basis for the estimation of polynomial coefficients are the magnetic declination values of 11 geomagnetic points in Slovenia, obtained between September 2008 and September 2009, and the magnetic declination values of eight geomagnetic observatories in the vicinity of Slovenia. The results were reduced to the epoch 2009,0 and used with the least square method to obtain the coefficients of the second order polynomial model. The model was compared to the World Magnetic Model (WMM). The estimated differences are considerable.
