Lexicographic reference works are, especially in small language groups, among the most influential works of linguistics. In this article we introduce normative guides that have played a key role in ...standardization processes in Slovenia. This paper builds on a variety of approaches in dictionary research - textual, contextual and qualitative - to examine and understand the complex relationship between linguistic and socio-political mechanisms governing the practice of codification of linguistic standards. The article presents the basic concepts of the Slovene (linguistic) Naturalness Theory, in particular the derivation as sequences of the theory's presuppositions. In the derivations, the predictions ...of language behaviour are obtained from the pairing of the values contained in the scales. The later reflect the pertinent language data, & are founded on nine criteria. In the less natural system of non-cardinal numbers & indefinite numerals, the derivations undergo the so-called markedness reversal, that is, in some of the scales the ordering of their values is reversed, given the less natural environment. Napovedi jezikovnega vedenja so v teh izpeljavah dobljene iz ...povezav vrednosti v lestvicah. Slednje odslikavajo jezikovna dejstva in so utemeljene z devetimi merili. V manj naravnem sistemu nenizkih glavnih in nedoločnih števnikov so izpeljave podvržene t. i. obratni zaznamovanosti, namreč posamezne lestvice imajo zaradi manj naravnega okolja zamenjano zaporedje vrednosti.
