With the formulation of tourism development strategies for the social and economic development of an area, rural tourism moved to a more complex phase of development. Numerous empirical studies have shown that different forms of rural tourism can have positive and negative effects on the natural and socio-economic context in the area where they are present. There are several methodologies for assessing the development of tourism in rural areas. One of the efficient and commonly used tools in preliminary decision-making phases and a precursor to strategic planning is SWOT analysis, which allows the identification of the best strategy that maximizes strengths and opportunities, and minimizes weaknesses and threats. In this study, a survey was conducted using the method of selecting respondents in order to diagnose the economic, social, cultural and environmental aspects with a focus on strengths and weaknesses in rural settlements in the area of National Park (NP) Kopaonik and its protection zone. Through the SWOT analysis, based on the attitudes of the local population, defined twenty indicators that determine the Sustainable Rural Development Index (SRDI). Research has shown that in area, the influence factor in strengths is higher in relation to the weaknesses, while the influence factor in opportunities is higher than in threats. The final result of the SRDI (0.63), shows that the current development of tourism is within the limits of sustainability and contributes to the sustainable development of rural settlements. The results of the research are the basis for the development of the strategy for future development of tourism in the research area.

Autori u ovom osvrtu samorecenziraju tekst o Foucaultovoj dvorani ogledala u kojemu nastoje razviti projekt fukoovske geoepistemologije. Najprije propituju sam postupak samorecenziranja kroz ...problematizaciju teksta kao predmeta analize i značenja samog postupka prepoznajući u njemu obrazac priznanja koji je Foucault utvrdio kao tipičan za zapadnu civilizaciju. Nakon što su prihvatili izazov samokritike, autori svoj povratak problemskom području geoepistemologije i pojmu triedra kao analitičkog oruđa izvode najprije na razini kritike teorijsko-metodologijskog okvira. Pritom uočavaju nedovoljno jasno razlučivanje vlastitog od Foucaultovog pristupa, nedovoljnu preciznost vlastite geoepistemološke analitike te nedovoljnu pažnju koju su u njezinim okvirima posvetili genealogiji praksi moći i znanja. Zatim se usmjeravaju na pojedine sadržajne nedostatke koji su obilježili začetak njihova istraživačkog projekta, a očitovali su se u nedovoljno jasnoj konceptualizaciji pojma života i podrazvijenosti triedara spacijalizacije s obzirom na problematike guvernmentalnosti i biomoći, jezika te samog ludila. Priznajući mogućnost da su se, pristajući na Foucaultovu igru, uhvatili u "triedar Foucault" kao cirkularni okvir tumačenja, autori u zaključnom dijelu osvrta nude sistematizaciju svojih ocjena te iznose prijedloge za daljnji razvoj projekta fukoovske geoepistemološke analitike.
In this review, the authors self-review the text about Foucault’s hall of mirrors, in which they try to develop the project of a Foucauldian geo-epistemology. First, they question the process of self-review – through the problematization of the text as an object of analysis and the meaning of the process itself, recognizing in it the apparatus of confession which Foucault established as typical for Western civilization. After accepting the challenge of self-criticism, the authors return to the problem area of geo-epistemology and the concept of the trihedral as an analytical tool, first at the level of criticism of the theoretical-methodological framework. In doing so, they observe insufficiently clear delineation of their own approach from Foucault’s, insufficient precision of their own geo-epistemological analysis, and insufficient attention that they paid within this framework to the genealogy of concrete practices of power and knowledge. The authors then focus on specific deficiencies that marked the beginning of their research project and were manifested in an insufficiently clear conceptualization of the concept of life, as well as the underdevelopment of the trihedral of spatialization regarding the issues of governmentality and biopower, language, and madness itself. Acknowledging the possibility that, by agreeing to play Foucault’s game, they got caught in the "Trihedral Foucault" as a circular framework of interpretation, in the concluding part of the review the authors offer a systematization of their evaluations and present proposals for the further development of the project of Foucauldian geo-epistemological analytics.
The COVID-19 pandemic as a global threat caused the introduction of different biopolitical measures accompanied by discourses on otherness, including xenophobic, racist, nationalist, or new ...orientalist discourses. The aim of this research is to map discourses on otherness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our general hypothesis is that, despite the differences in social and cultural contexts, discourses on otherness generated during the pandemic legitimized biopolitical actions and/or measures in addition to exacerbating social, political and cultural differences. The research is based on a semi-systematic approach to literature review using Situational Analysis and Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse. In conclusion, we discuss the impact of discourse studies in the context of the global emergency.
This research proposes that Foucault’s concepts of power/knowledge and genealogy constitute a significant turning point, not only in philosophical and historical terms but also in the research ...framework of the sociology of knowledge. The first level of Foucault’s contribution to the sociology of knowledge is widely recognized through the concept of discourse and its dimensions of materiality, power and knowledge. The second level is the analytical grid of power/knowledge itself, which focuses on the relays established between them. The third level, which we consider a crucial area open to further interpretation, is the concept of the history of the present. Although Foucault’s contribution has already been acknowledged in contemporary sociological research of knowledge, our objective is to expand on this recognition by highlighting the significance of genealogy’s dimensions to existing approaches, namely the historical sociology of knowledge and sociology of knowledge approach to discourse.
In the Kopaonik tourist region of Serbia, there are numerous thermal-mineral (TM) springs with an outlet temperature which ranges from 21 to 78.7 °C. The main objective of the study is to determine ...the capacities, thermal power and energy potential of 19 TM springs in 4 spas of this region. This study supports the hypothesis that in the Kopaonik tourist region, TM springs have considerable capacity, as well as heat power and energy potential. The modern method for determining the energy potential and heat power, based on the flow rate, the inlet and outlet temperatures of the TM springs, was applied in the region with rich geothermal sources, and the obtained results were converted to the fossil fuel energy. The research of the given region, using the above method, is more detailed than the previous research carried out at the national level, so the results are more reliable and suggest that similar research should be carried out at the regional and local level. The estimated total heat energy is 758.51 TJ/year, and heat power (capacity) is 24.1 MWt. The TM springs of this region make up 9.06% of the estimated geothermal energy of Serbia and 7.53% of the estimated heat power. The total energy of this region is equivalent to 210697222.3 kW/h (210.7 GWh) or 18116.7 toe and represent significant energy saving potential. The results indicate the possibility of direct use of energy from TM spring and replacement of fossil fuels, which reduces CO2 emissions and positively affects the quality of the environment. The use of geothermal energy will reduce heating costs and ensure electricity supply due to the growing need for it.

In insufficiently developed areas of Serbia, natural and anthropogenic tourist values are of great importance for sustainable rural development. In this study, a survey was conducted using the method ...of selecting respondents, where the analysis of economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects took into consideration the current situation, with the goal of clearly defining all the strengths and weaknesses of rural settlements in Novi Pazar. The average values of related issues were used to calculate the value of the indicators, while the Sustainable Rural Development Index (SRDI) was determined by the average values of all indicators. The final outcome of the SRDI is 0.94, indicating that the area holds the potential to develop sustainable tourism. The results of the research can be used to plan the possibilities for further development of rural settlements in the researched area in order to minimize weaknesses and threats and maximize strengths and opportunities with the help of tourism based on sustainable development.
In this article we aim to single out a part of Foucault's trihedrals of spatialization - discourses and practices, that is, technologies of power that have their spatialized frames. In order to ...analyse them we use the concept of a trihedral, not a triangle, because we noticed that several lines can be drawn from any angle and can form new spaces. In such a manner we are able to see their multiplication, separation and parallelisms. Using the trihedrals of spatialization we detect in Foucault's work, besides the demands for a certain (spatialized) ontology, the existence of no less significant geo-epistemology as knowledge and discourses that are formed in spaces and as the space formed through knowledge/power/discourses. We face a polyvalent character of the angles of the trihedrals and try to avoid the labyrinth into which their multiplication pulls us. The article pays special attention to Foucault's elementary trihedral, life-work-language, in which man came to life as a being who works, speaks and reproduces in a new shape - as population. In this trihedral the angles/concepts are only seemingly separated: they overlap, mix, collide and intertwine in a game that cannot end. That is why this is only a snapshot of the many trihedrals; a possible aggregate of combinations, yet in no case coherent and homogenous. In that sense this article is not an attempt to systematize Foucault's thought but to identify one of the many possible models/matrices for understanding the meaning of his spatial turn and his analysis of power.
In this study, a tourism value assessment of the monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija, which are inscribed on the UNESCO List of World Heritage in Danger. The applied model consists of two groups of ...indicators (resource values and state of development) and seven sub-indicators, which were ranked and evaluated by respondents on site. The aim of the study is to assess and highlight the tourist values and potentials that could contribute to marketing, point out the shortcomings and opportunities for further development and protection. The model was first applied for the valorization of the monastery, which due to the lack of legal protection, governance and political insecurity can become the subject of research performed by experts from various fields.
Railways that were once utilized by conventional speed trains but now lay technologically outdated and neglected are scarcely in use today, with many lying abandoned. These rail networks sprawl ...across vast areas, posing a substantial impediment to sustainable land use and management. Our research advocates for the adoption of tourist itinerary/route as a viable model for the transformation of abandoned railways into sustainable and functional systems. This innovative concept involves repurposing abandoned railways into tourist itineraries with the aim of utilizing them for tourism and commercial ventures. Recognizing a knowledge gap, particularly the absence of scientifically grounded models, on a selected case study (abandoned regional railway number 223 in the Toplica District, Serbia), we develop and present a model for the identification and Tourist Evaluation of Abandoned Railways (TEAR model). The defined model comprises a total of 27 sub-indicators categorized into four groups of indicators: natural tourist values (NV), anthropogenic tourist values (AV), tourist attractiveness of the railway (TA), and functional values (FV). The findings from the TEAR model suggest that the abandoned railway holds significant tourism value, with a rating of ≥0.7. Specifically, three sets of indicators—NV, AV, and TA—indicate a high level of tourist values (≥0.7), while FV falls within a moderate range of tourist values (0.4 ≤ V < 0.7). This endeavor not only supports sustainable local and regional development but also contributes to the enhancement of rural landscapes and the revitalization of rural areas. Importantly, this initiative aligns directly and indirectly with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), thus fostering progress towards broader economic, societal, and environmental objectives.
