Among the cultural richness in Indonesia, one of which is the Malangan batik cloth. The use of Malangan batik cloth is not only for clothing and decoration needs but also becomes part of the subject ...matter. In elementary school learning, Malangan batik cloth is one of the learning materials for Arts, Culture, and Crafts. In the thematic learning applied in elementary schools, Arts, Culture, and Crafts subjects do not stand alone. However, it must be related to other subjects, one of which is mathematics. The reality, on the ground, most teachers find it difficult to link the two. Bridging the link between these two subjects is carried out through semiotic analysis with its six primary objects. This study aimed to conduct a semiotic analysis of Malangan batik for elementary mathematics learning. The research was conducted in a qualitative descriptive manner with an ethnographic approach. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with two elementary school mathematics teachers and two Malangan batik makers. The research period is January-March 2022. The results of the study found that elementary mathematics concepts (numbers, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics, and capital selection) have been identified according to six primary semiotic objects, namely language, problem-situation, concepts, procedures, properties, and arguments. By understanding each semiotic object, Malangan batik has the potential to increase students' mathematical activities that are contextual, interesting, and meaningful for students.
The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018 showed that elementary school students' math, literacy, and science skills were poor. These problems occurred due to a lack of ...understanding and memorization of multiplication. They are considered difficult for students to calculate the results of the least common multiple and greatest common divisor. Thus, the development of learning media in mathematics are needed. The developed media was Dakon Koper. The purpose of this study was to develop Dakon Koper media in thematic learning. This research was a development research by implementing the ADDIE model which consisted of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were the fourth-grade elementary school students. The developed media's feasibility had been determined through a validation questionnaire filled by media, material, and learning experts. Student response questionnaires were used to record students' interest in learning. The expert validation results stated that Dakon Koper was very suitable to be used as a learning medium. The students' questionnaire responses revealed that Dakon Koper was very interesting and useful to support students' learning. Suggestions for the sustainability of this research are product dissemination for learning media in elementary schools.
The impact of the COVID-19 virus is so significant. Efforts have been taken to handle the impacts on various fields, including in-field education. The Indonesian government has established three ...policies in education, one of which is learning from home. This article analyzes the planning, implementation, assessment of learning from home strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic in private elementary schools. The research was conducted qualitatively, and the type of research was descriptive. The instruments of this research were interviews, indirect observations, and documentation studies. The research subjects were two principals, two teachers, two students, two guardians of students from each elementary school, i.e., Muhammadiyah 9 Elementary School and Bani Hasyim Islamic Elementary school, both in Malang, East Java, Indonesia. Among the research subjects, the Principal of each school is the key informant in this study. The results of the analysis show that the lesson planning already includes the use of lesson plans. However, communication with students and parents is done through PANDAWA applications and daily learning scenarios, which contain materials, teaching materials, LKPD, and assessment questions. The implementation of learning is carried out synchronously and asynchronously. The learning assessment is conducted by sending questions using various applications such as Edmodo, Quilgo, Google Classroom, and the PANDAWA website. Various forms of innovation in learning services while learning from home are key parts in improving the quality of private elementary schools.

The process of drawing conclusions in semiotic reasoning based on objects, signs, students' interpretation of the meaning of signs is reflected through written, verbal, and gestural answers ...(multimodal). Therefore, this research aims to describe the patterns of students' semiotic reasoning in solving two-dimensional shape problems based on a multimodal analysis. This study was conducted qualitatively using an exploratory descriptive approach. The research was conducted by involving two participants from the third grade of Muhammadiyah Elementary School (MES), Malang. The instruments used were observations, interview guidelines, and written exam questions. Observations were made when the participants solved problems in writing and during interviews. The interviews were conducted to confirm the written answers. The written test consisted of one question about the perimeter of a two-dimensional shape. The research results of the two third-grade students were analyzed using four stages of data transcription, sorting and selecting appropriate data, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research obtained two patterns of semiotic reasoning used by the participants. The first pattern was analysis, analysis-generalization, integration, and justification. The second pattern was analysis, analysis-generalization, integration, analysis, integration, integration, and justification. In addition, it was found that the first pattern gave the wrong final answer. In the first pattern, especially at the stage of implementing the problem-solving plan, the participant made a mistake in the integration indication, resulting in a wrong answer. Follow-up research needs to be carried out to determine the quality of students' reasoning ability when solving multimodal-based mathematical problems.
