Prispevek govori o novem metodološkem pristopu k identifikaciji, zapisovanju in analiziranju hrvaških frazemov v nagrobnih napisih. Zapisanih je bilo 138 frazemov s 127 nagrobnih napisov na mestnem ...pokopališču Pag (na otoku Pagu). Po izvedeni terenski raziskavi, postopkih in orodjih je v specifičnem metodološkem okviru opravljena razvrstitev frazemov po klasifikaciji Antice Menac iz leta 2007 na tri osnovne tipe: po izvoru, obliki in slogu.
The influx of Anglicisms is no longer limited to simple and open-class words in a lexicon, but it is also open to complex words and multiword expressions (e.g., phraseological units and simple ...sentences). Complex words are not only borrowed with their original English affixes (prefixes), but can also be formed with the addition of bound morphemes from the recipient language. This paper aims to shed more light on current Anglicisms in terms of noun phrase formation and adaptation from economic terminology into the Croatian language. It presents the results of transmorphemisation within a three-degree adaptational framework: zero, partial/compromise and complete transmorphemisation. Each adaptational degree is exemplified by English models and Croatian replicas, all described and explained in these terms. For the sake of comparison, illustration and the applicability of the model, some examples of noun phrases found in Russian, Slovene and Serbian are also provided.
The subject matter in this research is word-formation types in the Croatian artistic gymnastics terminology. The article relies on studies of word-formation types in other professions. However, specific examples from the subject domain are analysed, which reflect, as their formation and meaning are regarded, the specifics of the LSP. Since the standardization of the artistic gymnastics terminology has not been done yet, this article could be a starting point for this complex process which demands the co-operation of experts from the domain under consideration and linguists.
In this paper, we focused on epitaphs recorded on headstones in the cemeteries of theisland of Pag. In total, there are two urban cemeteries – in Pag and Novalja, and twelverural or village cemeteries: old and new cemeteries in Dinjiška, Vlašići, Povljana, andcemeteries in Gorica, Šimuni, Kolan, Zubovići, Metajna and Lun. In the first stage ofthe research, all epitaphs were collected using a specific field research method (Fabijanić 2021), and in the second stage qualitative data were presented. Epitaphs were analysed on the basis of their compositional and lexical structure, i.e. nominal, aphoristic, and literary epitaphs, but also on the basis of their specific characteristics:according to content, language, style. Along with names and surnames, the most common expressions are those used to inform about the ownership status of the burialplace, to send certain wishes to the deceased or to inform about the erector of the monument. Examples of aphoristic epitaphs from our corpus express: gratitude, kindness, pain, forgiveness, love, memory, death, life. The most frequently conveyedthoughts in literary epitaphs include: premature death/departure/abandonment, praiseof the deceased, transience, portrait of the deceased, desire for a reunion andresurrection of the dead, patriotic thoughts, biblical quotations, prayers, psalms, spiritual songs, paraphrases, proverbial statements. Functional style dominates withadmixtures of conversational, journalistic, and literary-artistic style, and the mostused figure of speech in the investigated epitaphs is metaphor. As far as the semanticfields are concerned, the words were classified into the following fields: kinship relations, feelings, beliefs, states and expressions, astronomical and geological terms, biological terms, animals, culinary, violence and violent behaviour, geographical termsand ethnonyms, occupations and titles, maritime, political, and military terminology, architectural terms, buildings and places of residence, religious terms, activities andprocesses, and literary works. After the nominal, the most represented are verbal andadjectival lexicons. Verbs are used in the infinitive, present, future, imperative, aorist, perfective and imperfective forms. Adjectives are divided into groups of descriptiveand possessive adjectives, and active and passive verbal adjectives.
The paper presents the results of an analysis of elliptic anglicisms in Russian and Croatian economic terminology. These results have led to the revision and reinterpretation of the formation of ...elliptic anglicisms and their classification and qualification according to the stages of their adaptation. Along with a presentation of the combinations of various formation forms of pseudoanglicisms, new definitions for the differentiation of the stages of adaptation have been offered. In this paper, we provide a typological overview of abbreviations found in the corpus of Erasmus+ mobility documents, presented as an overview of the classification and taxonomic arrangement of ...abbreviations. The corpus was created from the texts available on the Erasmus+ website using the in-built tools of the Sketch Engine interface and it includes a representative sample of 4 million words. The abbreviations were collected using the concordance queries which enable us to retrieve lemmas written with only capital letters (e.g. OLS for ‘Online Linguistic Support’) and subsequent manual filtering. The typology is based on previous works in this field (Fabijanić: 2015; Fabijanić: 2014a, 2014b; Malenica, Fabijanić: 2013; Fabijanić, Malenica: 2013), which provided a more consistent and more transparent approach to classification of abbreviations, based on different other works and approaches (Fandrych: 2008a; Fandrych: 2008b; Harley: 2006; López Rúa: 2006; Jackson, Ze Amvela: 2005; López Rúa: 2004; Plag: 2003; Plag: 2001; Stockwell, Minkova: 2001; Crystal: 1995; Algeo: 1991; Cannon: 1989). Abbreviations are classified according to two criteria: narrower and broader sense and their differences in orthographic formation are described by the set of specific descriptors. The suggested description, classification, and analysis were previously used in examining different terminologies and are used in this work to prove their applicability and sustainability.
