The paper describes previous maps of the Diocese of Poreč and Pula and creation of a new map of the Diocese made and published after many changes and long-time research at the Faculty of Geodesy, ...University of Zagreb. The data collection of the general geographic content and the sacral content was the first step for the new map visualization of the Diocese. It also describes different problems for special map contents and observed shortcomings on the previous maps, and how they are solved. The research objective was the creation of the new map of the Diocese based on the collected and verified data, showing the exact borders of the Diocese and current borders of the deaneries with current seats. ) at a scale of 1:120 000, the parish borders with the seats and names of parishes are depicted for the first time.
The article describes the early thematic map of the Bosnia or Dakovo and Syrmia Diocese from the year 1826 (later in text Diocese of Dakovo and Syrmia). The map is a valuable historical document that ...elaborates more than just ecclesiastical contents. The diocese was partly situated in the area of today's Republic of Croatia and Republic of Serbia. It is situated in the area surrounded by the rivers Sava, Drava and Danube which constitute the south, north and east borders of the diocese, whereas the west border roughly spreads from Slavonski Brod to Donji Miholjac. Possible map originals, as well as their authors, Demetru Gorog and Joannis Lipszky, are mentioned. The text contains the historical overview of development of the diocese. Ecclesiastical, secular and natural contents of the map are elaborated in detail. The legend is also translated and tabular views are given about different religions of the area.
First complete review form is introduced in which all cartographic products are provided in a way that cartographic experts and non-experts are able to simply do a cartographic products evaluation ...according to the selected review type: simple (or short)--faster to accomplish, or complex (or long, complete)--more information-demanding type of the review. It is up to the reviewer which type of the review he/she will finally select--and this determines the set of the information that can be provided as a part of the review. The idea is finalized and tested through the web application, along with the one true cartographic product evaluation as working example. Evaluation and procedure process presented here was tested on a cartographic product- map of Mljet made by one of the authors of this paper.
The paper describes the research and creation of the map of the Diocese of Varaždin. After many changes in the Diocese over the years, this map has finally been completed and published for the first ...time. The process of the map making is described. Furthermore, it points at the problems related to some specific contents of the map and provides solutions to those problems, specifically, the divergence of the borders gathered from different sources. This extensive project resulted in the creation of a map in A2 paper format on a 1:225,000 scale. The GIS and the data collected about the specific map content were both the starting point and the source of data for the visualization of the map of the Diocese of Varaždin. This is important because there are none that precede it. Such a thematic map would therefore mark an advance in the field and be appropriate.
In this paper we combined layers created from several terrain rendering techniques, namely a shaded relief rendered in the free and open-source 3D computer graphics software Blender, a hillshade ...created in the free and opensource Geographic Information System (GIS) software QGIS, a hypsometric coloured Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and a draped digital orthophoto. Following a recent trend in the cartographic community towards using Blender, we tried to improve the standard relief visualization in common GIS software by blending it with a shaded relief rendered in Blender. Using different QGIS blending modes and opacity values we achieved different graphic visualizations. To compare and evaluate the suitability of different rendering techniques we chose national park Risnjak located in Croatia because of its specific and diverse terrain landforms. After comparing different input layers and parameter sets, we selected the blending combination which is best suited for visualizing terrain characteristics of all Croatian national parks. The result is a shaded relief created for every national park which is combined from a shaded relief rendered in Blender, a hillshade created in QGIS, a hypsometric coloured DEM and a draped digital orthophoto.
At the beginning of any crisis, including pandemics, it is very important to provide timely information to expert headquarters at the local and global level so that they can make daily decisions ...about measures and behavior of the population. Support for this can be a combination of analytical and statistical data together with the locations from which these data were collected. Part of the cartographic visualization deals precisely with the ways of designing and visual presentation based on which it would be clear to the user where the biggest hotspots and the biggest changes are compared to the previous period. The paper describes the origin and proposal of the original dashboard for monitoring the COVID pandemic in Croatia. The dashboard contains and combines thematic data and displays it with the layout and design carefully determined. The goal is for the data to be implemented as soon as it is available to the public. Similar works available on the Internet are also shown. The entire course of making the dashboard for the COVID pandemic and dissemination data is described, as well as data sources, software, problems encountered and solutions.
The development of topographic survey and production of topographic maps in scale 1:25,000 in the Republic of Croatia started in 1993 with the completion of the project the Official ...Topographic-Cartographic Information System (STOKIS). The STOKIS project defined the topographic and cartographic data model. The Croatian Topographic Information System (CROTIS) was created using the guidelines from STOKIS as the data model that was a foundation for the establishment of The Basic Topographic Database (BTD). The topographic maps in scale 1:25,000 for the whole territory of Croatia were made by processing data uploaded in the BTD since 2003. The CROTIS data model has changed during the years due to technological development in the field of geospatial data. Up to this day, four versions of CROTIS have been produced. This paper will give an overview of the development from the first to the last version. CROTIS 2.0 is a topographic model that refers to the collection of data on the land area of the Republic of Croatia. As 35% of the area of the Republic of Croatia is covered by the sea, this paper will show the topographic model by the Croatian Hydrographic Institute (HHI) from Split. This paper for all propose The Basic National Topographic Model for the territory of the Republic of Croatia by the harmonization of the two mentioned models.

model using the Esri CityEngine software, which is based on procedural modelling. This process involves three steps. The first step is to collect the available data, as well as the
Digital Model Relief data. The second step is to create a Computer Generated Architecture (CGA) file that contains a set of rules used by the software for an automatic generation
of the model. The third step is to create and visualize 3D models in the CityEngine software because it can be programmed, for example, according to the rules of cartographic
visualization. The Level of Detail (LOD) 2 was reconstructed. Several potential uses of such 3D visualization are also described.
The project is aimed at upgrading existing and outdated maps from the time when the present-day area of the Diocese of Požega in Croatia was under the Archdiocese of Zagreb. We could not find a ...single map of the Diocese of Požega since its establishment in 1997. That is why in 2001 we began to create one at the Faculty of Geodesy. It has been developed in stages and this work is still ongoing. The paper describes how the new map was created, it explains its purpose and the motivation behind the idea to create the first map of this diocese, and mentions obstacles that had to be dealt with during the research of certain specific thematic content. It also describes several working versions of the map. The project on which the paper is based is unique because it investigates sacral topics and facilities which have not yet been identified or depicted cartographically. The authors have successfully created a map which is built around sacral themes and emphasized cartographic details relating to this diocese. The procedure, though complicated due to the lack of available data, entailed collection and analysis of commonplace data and depicts authors' exposure to the difficulties of making and designing map.
