Phosphinothricin-resistant plants of commercial summer rapeseed varieties (
Brassica napus
L. var. oleifera DC) were obtained by means of
Agrobacterium
tumefaciens-mediated transformation of leaf ...disks. The vector structures contained the promoterless coding sequence of the phosphinothricin acetyltransferase gene (
bar
), which is situated between two inverted
lox
sites (elements of the Cre/
lox
recombination systems of the
PI
phage) and the selective neomycinphosphotransferase II gene (
nptII
). The presence of the newly introduced genes in the genome of the obtained plants is confirmed by the polymerase chain reaction method. Stable and linked inheritance of these genes in the T

generations is demonstrated.

Phosphinothricin resistant plants of two rapeseed (Brassica napus L. var. oleifera DC.) spring industrial cultivars were obtained by Agrobacterium tumefaciens leaf disk transformation. Vector ...constructions contained the promoterless coding sequence of phosphinothricin acetyltransferase (bar) gene located between two inverted lox-sites (elements of Cre/lox recombination system of P1 phage) and selective neomycinphosphotransferase II gene (nptII). Integration of the alien genes was confirmed by the PCR analyses. Stable and linked inheritance of foreign genes in T1 and T2 progeny was shown.
The research used a survey method at the level of "entry" and repetition after the first semester. The results are presented in a graphical format and a comparative analysis is made. The main factors ...for the frequent discrepancy between the self-assessment at the beginning of the studies and after the expiration of only one semester are indicated.
Innovative methods represent new approaches to teaching and learning in all disciplines of higher education. Until now, they have remained largely isolated in sports activities in higher schools. A ...set of methods is presented, with the aim of better feedback between participants in the educational process, strengthening interest and increasing motivation to participate in classes. The contribution of innovations in the development of the thinking of female students is assessed. Conclusions are made about the place of innovative approaches in education.
The high electronegativity of fluorine suggests that fluorides may enable cathode materials for lithium–ion and sodium–ion batteries with higher voltage profiles for insertion or larger capacities ...for conversion. Iron has traditionally been studied as a redox center in fluorine-based cathodes, but the other metals have rarely been investigated. We demonstrate that the NaMF3 series (M=Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu) offers a convenient means to compare the feasibility of the first row transition metals employed as fluorine-based cathodes for sodium–ion and lithium–ion batteries. NaFeF3 was found to be the only electrochemically active compound, which is able to undergo reversible Na+ reinsertion. This is ascribed to: (i) the chemical nature of the charged state FeF3 which is the only fluorine acceptor and chemically the most stable compound among the other MF3 and (ii) the existence of two FeF3 polymorphs with closer structural resemblance to the parent NaFeF3, which may contribute to the rigidity of the parent NaFeF3 structure during desodiation.
Optimization of the systems for active-targeting drug delivery is a pending task in view of more directed transport of the active components to neoplastic cells. One of the ways to improved ...performance of the drug carriers is refinement of their molecular composition, size, and specific interactions with membrane receptors. Better understanding of the latter is possible through molecular-level investigation of the process of direction of the transporters to target proteins on the surface of cells. This involves unveiling the communication between these receptors and their native ligands, which can be used as vectors for targeting the drugs. The review summarizes the current knowledge on the structure, function, and ligand binding of several most common receptors, overexpressed on various types of cancer cells, and, hence, available as potential drug delivery targets. Then, the results from molecular modeling of these proteins and ligands with atomistic equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations are recapped. The digest illustrates that the computational outcome is a valuable source of microscopic information, that accurate computational methodology is available and well mastered, and that there is much room for future developments focused on even more extensive and realistic applications in the area of targeted drug delivery.
The compounds Na3M2(PO4)2F3 M = Ti, Fe, V were obtained by two-step solid-state synthesis, and its electrochemical properties as cathode active materials of sodium-ion batteries were investigated. ...The obtained Na3M2(PO4)2F3 materials were found to have a tetragonal structure with a space group, P42/mnm, and were isostructural with β-Na3V2(PO4)2F3 by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) measurements. Within this series, Na3V2(PO4)2F3 in particular exhibited stability on cycling and a capacity of approximately 120 mAh g−1 against sodium metal. Capacity retention for this compound was 98%, even after the 40th cycle of prolonged charge/discharge measurements. Ex-situ XRD data for Na3V2(PO4)2F3 electrodes charged and discharged at selected voltages showed that the material structure expanded along the c axis during charging up to 4.3 V and returned to its original dimensions after cycling. This is attributed to the extraction/insertion of Na atoms layers along the (002) a–b plane in the tetragonal structure.
► This is the first report about the cathode properties of Na3M2(PO4)2F3 against Na or NaTi2(PO4)3 NASICON anode. ► Na3V2(PO4)2F3 has 4 V voltage plateau with 120 mAh g−1, which is a rare high voltage cathode against Na. ► Reversible c lattice expansion/contraction of Na3V2(PO4)2F3 electrodes was observed by ex-situ XRD during cycling.
