In this article we propose an alternative to the theories which subdivide the adjective into three major types (qualifier, relational, adjective of the third type), themselves subdivided into several ...subclasses. We believe instead that there is only one adjectival lexeme with different uses (unitary hypothesis). To do this, we start from the two ways of looking for the adjectival prototype: on the one hand, the abstract prototype built by accumulating criteria, on the other, the semantic prototype. We examine the behavior of occurrences of the abstract prototype (admirable, monumental) and the semantic prototype (grand) with respect to gradation, the attributive function (more specifically the place of the adjective) and the predicative function. The examples show not only that the two prototype models can be reconciled, but above all that the behavior and the meaning of any adjective depend in large part on the noun it qualifies, a result which confirms our unitary hypothesis. The syntactic-semantic dependence of the adjective on the supporting substantive is such that it can be concluded that the adjective is a syncategorematic part of speech, rather than a polysemous one.

Depuis le colloque du Forum Heracles de juin 2009 « Le Français sur Objectifs Universitaires », et l’ouvrage de Jean-Marc Mangiante et Chantal Parpette de 2011 Le français sur objectif universitaire, ...le FOU ne cesse de gagner du terrain. Dans cette optique, le symposium « Le français sur objectif universitaire, entre apports théoriques et pratiques de terrain » visait à réunir des contributions répondant à la problématique de l’intégration linguistique et la réussite académique des étudiants allophones dans l’enseignement supérieur en langue française, que ce soit en France ou à l’étranger. En effet, les contraintes de la mise en pratique du FOU rendent aujourd’hui essentielle une réflexion sur les liens entre théorie et terrain, non seulement du point de vue linguistique mais aussi du point de vue didactique et ceci en contexte de français langue étrangère, langue seconde et langue maternelle.
La négation est-elle « le propre de l’homme » ? Présente dans toutes les langues humaines, elle ne l’est dans aucune forme de communication animale. Le neuvième colloque franco-roumain de ...linguistique et didactique s’est attaqué à la problématique de la négation, pour l’examiner sous différents angles : non seulement du point de vue linguistique, mais également en didactique du français et dans certains emplois régionaux. Ces approches, qu’elles soient contrastives ou non, révèlent dans quelle mesure les marqueurs de la négation sont diversifiés et provoquent des effets interprétatifs divers.
