Rapid rotation is a fundamental characteristic of classical Be stars and a crucial property allowing for the formation of their circumstellar disks. Past evolution in a mass and angular momentum ...transferring binary system offers a plausible solution to how Be stars attained their fast rotation. Although the subdwarf remnants of mass donors in such systems should exist in abundance, only a few have been confirmed due to tight observational constraints. An indirect method of detecting otherwise hidden companions is offered by their effect on the outer parts of Be star disks, which are expected to be disrupted or truncated. In the context of the infrared and radio continuum excess radiation originating in the disk, the disk truncation can be revealed by a turndown in the spectral energy distribution due to reduced radio flux levels. In this work, we search for signs of spectral turndown in a sample of 57 classical Be stars with radio data, which include new data for 23 stars and the longest-wavelength detections so far (λ 10 cm) for two stars. We confidently detect the turndown for all 26 stars with sufficient data coverage (20 of which are not known to have close binary companions). For the remaining 31 stars, the data are inconclusive as to whether the turndown is present or not. The analysis suggests that many if not all Be stars have close companions influencing their outer disks. If confirmed to be subdwarf companions, the mass transfer spin-up scenario might explain the existence of the vast majority of classical Be stars.
Summary
Bayesian non‐parametric estimates of Australian distributions of mental health scores are obtained to assess how the mental health status of the population has changed over time, and to ...compare the mental health status of female/male and Aboriginal/non‐Aboriginal population subgroups. First‐order and second‐order stochastic dominance are used to compare distributions, with results presented in terms of the posterior probability of dominance and the posterior probability of no dominance. If a criterion for dominance is satisfied, then, in terms of that criterion, the mental health status of the dominant population is superior to that of the dominated population. If neither distribution is dominant, then the mental health status of neither population is superior in the same sense. Our results suggest mental health has deteriorated in recent years, that males' mental health status is better than that of females, and that non‐Aboriginal health status is better than that of the Aboriginal population.
Rapidly increasing number of web pages or documents leads to topic specific filtering in order to find web pages or documents efficiently. This is a preliminary research that uses cosine similarity ...to implement text relevance in order to find topic specific document. This research is divided into three parts. The first part is text-preprocessing. In this part, the punctuation in a document will be removed, then convert the document to lower case, implement stop word removal and then extracting the root word by using Porter Stemming algorithm. The second part is keywords weighting. Keyword weighting will be used by the next part, the text relevance calculation. Text relevance calculation will result the value between 0 and 1. The closer value to 1, then both documents are more related, vice versa.
In this letter, we propose a novel method of refining the time-domain synthesis of individual source estimates from a single channel mixture. Employing a closed-loop architecture, the algorithm ...refines the synthesis of each source by iteratively estimating the phase of the sources, given the estimates of the source magnitude spectra and a single channel time-domain mixture. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated for harmonic musical mixtures, and considerable improvements to the synthesized estimates are obtained relative to phase binary masking, given accurate source magnitude spectra.
ABSTRACT
This study examines the simulated temperature over Southeast Asia (SEA) using the Regional Climate Model version 4.3 (RegCM4.3), and its sensitivity to selected cumulus and ocean surface ...flux schemes. Model simulations were conducted for the SEA domain at 36 km spatial resolution for the period of 1989–2008, as part of the Southeast Asia Regional Climate Downscaling/Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment‐Southeast Asia (SEACLID/CORDEX‐Southeast Asia) project. A total of 18 sensitivity experiments were conducted with a combination of six cumulus parameterization schemes and three ocean surface flux schemes. The model's skill in representing mean, maximum and minimum temperatures is evaluated against observed gridded data sets. Results indicate a predominant cold bias in all simulations, particularly over mainland SEA (Indochina) during the season of December to February. Nevertheless, the seasonal correlation is highest over this region. The cold bias of the model is also evident in the temperature distributions, such that there are more cold months than observed, which may be associated with the underestimation of the daily maximum temperature. A few simulations also reveal a warm bias over some areas in the Maritime Continent. Further examination shows that both radiative and surface fluxes influence the simulated temperature, which may also have effects that partially offset each other in some areas. Comparison of the sensitivity experiments reveals differences in model performance, and underlines the importance in choosing the appropriate configuration for RegCM4.3 before it is used to downscale climate projections, particularly for the SEA region. This study also shows a strong influence of the choice of cumulus scheme on temperature. Based on performance metrics for temperature among the schemes tested, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Emanuel cumulus scheme and the Biosphere‐Atmosphere Transfer Scheme version 1e (BATS1e) ocean surface flux scheme can be used in future simulations for the region.
This study examined the sensitivity of simulated temperature over Southeast Asia (SEA) for the period of 1989–2008 to six cumulus parameterization schemes and three ocean surface flux schemes in the Regional Climate Model version 4.3 (RegCM4.3). Results show a predominant cold bias in the model, particularly over Indochina during the season of December to February, as well as the strong influence of the cumulus scheme on temperature. Among the sensitivity experiments, the simulation using MIT Emanuel cumulus scheme and BATS1e ocean surface flux scheme (Exp04) ranked highest for temperature over SEA region based on bias, correlation and skill score.
Genetic material is transferred in a non-reproductive manner across species more frequently than commonly thought, particularly in the bacteria kingdom. On one hand, extant genomes are thus more ...properly considered as a fusion product of both reproductive and non-reproductive genetic transfers. This has motivated researchers to adopt phylogenetic networks to study genome evolution. On the other hand, a gene's evolution is usually tree-like and has been studied for over half a century. Accordingly, the relationships between phylogenetic trees and networks are the basis for the reconstruction and verification of phylogenetic networks. One important problem in verifying a network model is determining whether or not certain existing phylogenetic trees are displayed in a phylogenetic network. This problem is formally called the tree containment problem. It is NP-complete even for binary phylogenetic networks.
We design an exponential time but efficient method for determining whether or not a phylogenetic tree is displayed in an arbitrary phylogenetic network. It is developed on the basis of the so-called reticulation-visible property of phylogenetic networks.

Essay Examination is one of many ways to evaluate the learning process of students. The Essay test can measure a student's capability of memory and to develop an idea. With the vast development of ...Information Technology, an essay test is done in a more sophisticated way with a platform called e-learning. This research implemented an e-learning interface to conduct an essay test, starting with giving out questions, answering it and marking it. The system will generate an automatic mark, using the Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) method by measuring the relevance of the key answer and the student's answer. Before entering the LSA phase, the answer will go through pre-processing step which is cleansing, case folding, tokenization, stop word, convert negation and stemming. The result of the accuracy of this system compared to teacher's manual assessment is 83.3%. Expectedly, this research will help teachers in making their assessment process more efficient.
Abstract
One of the most popular online transportation providers in Indonesia is GO-JEK. At the first establishment, GO-JEK is only an online taxi motorbike service (in Bahasa Indonesia: ojek) that ...transforms from a conventional taxi motorbike. After several years GO-JEK began to develop more services, like GO-FOOD, GO-SEND, GO-CAR, GO-MART, GO-RIDE, GO-PAY, GO-TIX, GO-BOX, and GO-MED. As the GO-JEK services develop into more categories, it is more challenging to automatically analyze the sentiment polarity for each category of services category. An ordinary classification algorithm or single-label classification is concerned with learning from a set of examples associated with a single label classification. However, in this case, we want to classify GO-JEK services based on two-class targets, which are GO-JEK service categories and polarity sentiment classification. This research methodology contains Dataset Preparation, Feature Selection, Basic text mining process, train, and split dataset, and Classification. We implemented two classification methods: Multi-Label Classification and a simultaneous classification using the Random Forest Algorithm as a comparison. Based on this dataset, the most mentioned GO-JEK service is GO-FOOD followed by GO-SEND, GO-RIDE, GO-CAR, and GO-MART. Based on the service category, GO-FOOD gets the most positive reviews following by GO-RIDE and GOJEK 90. Some service categories like GO-SEND and GO-MART get more negative reviews than positive reviews. The accuracy of the Multi-label classification method raised 76%. Simultaneous classification accuracy using the Random Forest algorithm produce for service category classification yields 97% and only 78% for sentiment polarity classification. We can see that both algorithm, multi-label classification, and Random Forest algorithm, yields almost the same classification accuracy for polarity sentiment classification. We can conclude that the imperfect accuracy in polarity sentiment classification is related to the difficulty of identifying the most suitable polarity for each tweet. Many sarcasm tweets and slang words that cannot be identified.
Regional assessments of trends in climate extremes are necessary for countries to make informed decisions about adaptation strategies and to put these changes into a global context. A workshop ...bringing together several Southeast Asian countries has delivered a new set of daily weather observations suitable to analyse the changes in temperature and precipitation extremes between 1972 and 2010. The use of a consistent and widely tested methodology in this study allows a direct comparison with results from other parts of the world. Trends in a range of climate extremes indices were assessed focusing on spatial variation in these trends. For most locations temperature trends obtained in this study appear broadly consistent with previous assessments; for some locations stronger trends have been detected through the inclusion of new data. In contrast to earlier studies, evidence of trends in precipitation extremes is emerging, with significant increasing trends in both regional and subregional data. In addition, large correlations between regional rainfall extremes and large‐scale features such as El Niño‐Southern Oscillation and the Indian Ocean Dipole were identified. Finally, the observed trends are compared with a regional climate model reconstruction of the historical period. It was found that the model captures very well the trends and spatial variation of temperature extremes across the region, albeit with an underestimation of the more extreme indices. In contrast, the trends in precipitation extremes are largely overestimated, particularly in the western side of Southeast Asia.

Abstract The significant impact of climate change is high variability in rainfall and an increase in extreme rainfall events. The impacts resulted in severe dry/wet conditions. Severe dry conditions ...can lead to crop failure due to lack of water availability, while severe wet conditions can indicate flooding. This paper aims to investigate the variability of dry/wet meteorological conditions in the Selo watershed. The investigation was carried out using the SPEI and SPI. The results show that wet/dry conditions do not have a clear pattern variability in the long term. Seasonal wet/dry conditions show a changing trend towards wetter conditions in all seasons. Spatially, the changes occur throughout the study area, with the most significant changes occurring in the upstream and downstream parts of the watershed. In the last two decades, wet conditions are more dominant to replace dry conditions that were more prominent in the previous two decades. Other analysis results conclude that there is no influence of air temperature in creating wet/dry conditions in the Selo watershed area. So that the characteristics of wet/dry conditions are very useful for considering the selection of agricultural adaptation strategies in dealing with variability and climate change in the Selo watershed area.
