In addition, control experiments disclose that some of the reactions may involve a radical pathway.

Video stabilization techniques are essential for most hand-held captured videos due to high-frequency shakes. Several 2D-, 2.5D-, and 3D-based stabilization techniques have been presented previously, ...but to the best of our knowledge, no solutions based on deep neural networks had been proposed to date. The main reason for this omission is shortage in training data as well as the challenge of modeling the problem using neural networks. In this paper, we present a video stabilization technique using a convolutional neural network. Previous works usually propose an off-line algorithm that smoothes a holistic camera path based on feature matching. Instead, we focus on low-latency, real-time camera path smoothing that does not explicitly represent the camera path and does not use future frames. Our neural network model, called StabNet, learns a set of mesh-grid transformations progressively for each input frame from the previous set of stabilized camera frames and creates stable corresponding latent camera paths implicitly. To train the network, we collect a dataset of synchronized steady and unsteady video pairs via a specially designed hand-held hardware. Experimental results show that our proposed online method performs comparatively to the traditional off-line video stabilization methods without using future frames while running about 10 times faster. More importantly, our proposed StabNet is able to handle low-quality videos, such as night-scene videos, watermarked videos, blurry videos, and noisy videos, where the existing methods fail in feature extraction or matching.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a very interesting class of conserved single-stranded RNA molecules derived from exonic or intronic sequences by precursor mRNA back-splicing. Unlike ...canonical linear RNAs, circRNAs form covalently closed, continuous stable loops without a 5′end cap and 3′end poly(A) tail, and therefore are resistant to exonuclease digestion. The majority of circRNAs are highly abundant, and conserved across different species with a tissue or developmental-stage-specific expression. circRNAs have been shown to play important roles as microRNA sponges, regulators of gene splicing and transcription, RNA-binding protein sponges and protein/peptide translators. Emerging evidence reveals that circRNAs function in various human diseases, particularly cancers, and may function as better predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer treatment. In consideration of their potential clinical relevance, circRNAs have become a new research hotspot in the field of tumor pathology. In the present study, the current understanding of the biogenesis, characteristics, databases, research methods, biological functions subcellular distribution, epigenetic regulation, extracellular transport and degradation of circRNAs was discussed. In particular, the multiple databases and methods involved in circRNA research were first summarized, and the recent advances in determining the potential roles of circRNAs in tumor growth, migration and invasion, which render circRNAs better predictive biomarkers, were described. Furthermore, future perspectives for the clinical application of circRNAs in the management of patients with cancer were proposed, which could provide new insights into circRNAs in the future.
An electrochemical C–H acylation of electron-deficient N-heteroarenes with α-keto acids is reported. This first electrochemical Minisci acylation reaction proceeded using NH4I as a redox catalyst. A ...broad N-heteroarene scope and high functional group tolerance are observed. Selective monoacylation of N-heteroarenes is achieved via control of acyl radical at a low concentration. The results of cyclic voltammetry and control experiments disclose that the electrogenerated I2 is likely the active species to initiate the oxidative decarboxylation of carboxylate anion via an acyl hypoiodite intermediate. The electrochemical Minisci acylation provides a straightforward approach for the late-stage functionalization of pharmacophores.
The snub-nosed monkey genus Rhinopithecus includes five closely related species distributed across altitudinal gradients from 800 to 4,500 m. Rhinopithecus bieti, Rhinopithecus roxellana, and ...Rhinopithecus strykeri inhabit high-altitude habitats, whereas Rhinopithecus brelichi and Rhinopithecus avunculus inhabit lowland regions. We report the de novo whole-genome sequence of R. bieti and genomic sequences for the four other species. Eight shared substitutions were found in six genes related to lung function, DNA repair, and angiogenesis in the high-altitude snub-nosed monkeys. Functional assays showed that the high-altitude variant of CDT1 (Ala537Val) renders cells more resistant to UV irradiation, and the high-altitude variants of RNASE4 (Asn89Lys and Thr128Ile) confer enhanced ability to induce endothelial tube formation in vitro. Genomic scans in the R. bieti and R. roxellana populations identified signatures of selection between and within populations at genes involved in functions relevant to high-altitude adaptation. These results provide valuable insights into the adaptation to high altitude in the snub-nosed monkeys.

The protocol is practical, as proved by the one-pot, two-step procedure and scaled-up experiments. Mechanistic studies reveal that the electrochemical approach involves the formation of sulfonyl radicals via homolytic cleavage of in situ generated sulfonyl bromide.
Renal fibrosis is the characteristic of all kinds of chronic kidney diseases (CKDs). Fascin-1 plays an important role in tumor development, but the roles of fascin-1 in renal fibrosis have not been ...studied. Here, we explored the role of fascin-1 in renal fibrosis and the potential mechanisms.
Kidney unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) mouse model was used as an in vivo model, and proximal tubule epithelial cell lines treated with TGF-β1 were used as in vitro model of renal fibrosis. Cell transfection was performed to manipulate the expression of miR-200b/c, fascin-1 and CD44. Western blotting, qRT-PCR, immunohistochemistry or immunofluorescence assays were used to measure levels of miR-200b/c, fascin-1, CD44, and fibrosis and EMT-related markers. H&E and Masson stainings were used to examine the degree of injury and fibrosis in kidneys. Dual luciferase assay was used to examine the interaction between miR-200b/c family and fascin-1.
Fascin-1 and CD44 levels were both significantly up-regulated while miR-200b/c family was reduced in models of renal fibrosis. Furthermore, overexpression of miR-200b/c family and inhibition of fascin-1 or CD44 ameliorated renal fibrosis through suppressing EMT process. Mechanistically, miR-200b/c family directly and negatively regulated the expression of fascin-1. Overexpression of fascin-1 could reverse the effects of miR-200b/c family on renal fibrosis, and fascin-1 regulated renal fibrosis by activating CD44.
Our study is the first to show that fascin-1 plays a critical role in renal fibrosis. MiR-200b/c family could inhibit renal fibrosis through modulating EMT process by directly targeting fascin-1/CD44 axis.
With the development of high-precision and high-frame-rate scanning technology, we can quickly obtain scan data of various large-scale scenes. As a manifestation of information fusion, point cloud ...registration is of great significance in various fields, such as medical imaging, autonomous driving, and 3D reconstruction. The Iterative Closest Point (ICP) algorithm, as the most classic algorithm, leverages the closest point to search corresponding points, which is the pioneer of correspondences-based approaches. Recently, some deep learning-based algorithms witnessed extracting deep features to compress point cloud information, then calculate corresponding points, and finally output the optimal rigid transformation like Deep Closest Point (DCP) and DeepVCP. However, the partiality of point clouds hinders the acquisition of enough corresponding points when dealing with the partial-to-partial registration problem. To this end, we propose Virtual Points Registration Network (VPRNet) for this intractable problem. We first design a self-supervised virtual point generation network (VPGnet), which utilizes the attention mechanism of Transformer and Self-Attention to fuse the geometric information of two partial point clouds, combined with the Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) structure to produce missing points. Subsequently, the following registration network structure is spliced to the end of VPGnet, thus estimating rich corresponding points. Unlike the existing methods, our network tries to eliminate the side effects of incompleteness on registration. Thus, our method expresses resilience to the initial rotation and sparsity. Various experiments indicate that our proposed algorithm shows advanced performance compared to recent deep learning-based and classical methods.
The crosstalk between macrophages and tubular epithelial cells (TECs) actively regulates the progression of renal fibrosis. In the present study, we revealed the significance of circular RNA ACTR2 ...(circACTR2) in regulating macrophage inflammation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) of TECs, and the development of renal fibrosis. Our results showed UUO-induced renal fibrosis was associated with increased inflammation and EMT, hypertrophy of contralateral kidney, up-regulations of circACTR2 and NLRP3, and the down-regulation of miR-561. CircACTR2 sufficiently and essentially promoted the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome, pyroptosis, and inflammation in macrophages, and through paracrine effect, stimulated EMT and fibrosis of TECs. Mechanistically, circACTR2 sponged miR-561 and up-regulated NLRP3 expression level to induce the secretion of IL-1β. In TECs, IL-1β induced renal fibrosis via up-regulating fascin-1. Knocking down circACTR2 or elevating miR-561 potently alleviated renal fibrosis in vivo
.
In summary, circACTR2, by sponging miR-561, activated NLRP3 inflammasome, promoted macrophage inflammation, and stimulated macrophage-induced EMT and fibrosis of TECs. Knocking down circACTR2 and overexpressing miR-561 may, thus, benefit the treatment of renal fibrosis.
