Artykuł traktuje o mechanizmach pamięci zaobserwowanych w zachodnioniemieckich filmach poświęconych tematyce NRD-owskiej, zwłaszcza z przełomu 1989 i 1990 r.
Odnośnie do korzystania z filmowych platform sieciowych (zwłaszcza Video on Demand), wskazuje na proces remediatyzacji filmów w przestrzeni Internetu.
Rainer Simon, 1989). Podejmuje kwestię konfrontacji kultury NRD-owskiej i polskiej (Klucze, reż. Egon Günther, 1972/1974; Przez siedem mostów musisz przejść, reż. Hans Werner, 1978). Proponuje namysł nad propagandowym lokowaniem wizerunków Angeli Davis i Deana Reada w dwóch filmach związanych z X Światowym Festiwalem Młodzieży i Studentów w Berlinie w sierpniu 1973 r. Lothar Warneke, 1986).
The author attempts to define the phenomenon of film technique in the “zero point of cinema”, with reference to selected films made within the circle of Bauhaus’s “new vision” at the turn of the ...1920s and 1930s ("Amateurfilm Dessau" by Ivana Tomljenović from 1930 and several films by László Moholy-Nagy, particularly "Architects’ Congress. Film Diary " /1933/). The text concerns the phenomenon based on ignoring technical standards of the medium and/or questioning them to the point of explicit denouncement of the idea of development as a negative reference point, and at times even total rejection of the idea. In the discussed films, visuality perceived as a means to manage the authority of power is contrasted with the right to look (based on “countervisuality”), which is expressed particularly in the staging of seeing the act of looking. It is about a state in which perception practices are not appropriated by visual constructs, since the social machine has not yet arranged the functioning of the photography-film machine; this creates an impression of staging and directorial poverty.
The book "Między kartką a ekranem. Cyfrowe eksperymenty z medium książki w Polsce" "Between Page and Screen: Digital Experiments with the Medium of the Book in Poland" (2018) by Piotr Marecki is of ...an overviewing, typologizing and systemizing nature. Its author points to the diversity of media and cultural entanglements which have accompanied the evolution of literacy interfaces since the 1970s. Marecki focuses on the Polish adventures with book digitality, which is certainly not inferior to its foreign variants, becoming part of the world heritage of electronic literature classics. The author follows the evolution of media forms in particular authors’ manifestations at the junction of the culture of “page” and the culture of “screen” (i.a. Józef Żuk Piwkowski, Robert Szczerbowski, Małgorzata Dawidek or Wojciech Bruszewski). In his argument, the book as such becomes a representative of the whole civilization process which has changed modern media cultures so profoundly. Marecki emerges as a wise and creative successor and continuator of the reflection by the classics of the subject, such as Jay David Bolter and N. Katherine Hayles. His book is intelligent, much-needed and short, and it is also able to both satisfy experts and serve as introductory reading for laymen in the field.
Although researching film history through the history of one film is not a new concept, it is rather rarely used. Piotr Zwierzchowski and Mariusz Guzek’s monograph “'Sąsiedzi'. Film o bydgoskim ...wrześniu 1939" “'The Neighbours'. A Film about September 1939 in Bydgoszcz" (2019) is devoted to the eponymous 1969 film by Aleksander Ścibor-Rylski and, simultaneously, to the city of Bydgoszcz in film. Both narratives are situated in the space of tension between national cinema and the history of cinema in the city which itself was often a place of film locations. The monograph follows the convention of an investigation conducted by the insightful and inquisitive film scholars and historians intrigued by their city’s past, who are equipped with an arsenal of tools and research measures providing an effective cognitive result. Zwierzchowski and Guzek do not intend to revise history, nor do they write the history of cinema anew. The undoubted beauty of the book is its cognitively fruitful and at the same time attractive style, in which the perspective of a witness to history (including the history of cinema) is fortuitously complemented by the perspective of a film consumer of from the past decades. In Piotr Zwierzchowski and Mariusz Guzek’s approach, the perplexities of Ścibor-Rylski’s ‘Bydgoszcz film’ turned out to be a fascinating adventure of cinema in the city which was made a film-city by historical circumstances.
The author follows the traces of the Silesian uprisings and the plebiscite in post-war Polish cinema. The main thread of the article is preceded by an exploration of the pre-war manifestations of the ...screen life of these motifs. Apart from the two films from the 1960s: "Rodzina Milcarków" ("The Milcarek Family", 1962) by Józef Wyszomirski and the myth-making folk-ballad "Sól ziemi czarnej" ("Salt of the Black Earth", 1969) by Kazimierz Kutz, only a few episodes of Zbigniew Chmielewski’s television series "Blisko, coraz bliżej" ("Close, Getting Closer", 1982; broadcast on television in 1983-1986) were devoted to this topic. This modest corpus is complemented by "Bracia" ("Brothers", 2006) by Józef Kłyk, an amateur filmmaker. The uprisings were often represented on screen in documentaries, instrumentalized in the ideological spirit of the People’s Republic of Poland, shown in educational contexts or those presenting cinema as a machinery of memory. However, the repertoire of “landscapes of memory” about the uprisings and the plebiscite from a hundred years ago is yet to be completed.

Monografia Topografie i krajobrazy. Książa Copik przedstawia satysfakcjonujący, bo całościowy, oryginalny i inspirujący, a niejednokrotnie poznawczo wyrafinowany obraz filmowego Śląska.
