This monograph treats the usefulness of flavor physics as probes of the TeV scale, with the aim of providing a timely introduction to the emerging LHC era. By concentrating only with the TeV scale ...connection, a large part of the B factory output can be bypassed. The emphasis here is on loop-induced processes, which enables the probing of virtual TeV scale physics through quantum processes. Two-thirds of the book is concerned with b s or bs bs transitions. It takes an experimental perspective resulting in selecting processes, rather than the theories or models, as the basis to explore flavor physics as probe of the TeV scale. The guiding principle has been, unless it can be identified as the smoking gun, it is better to stick to the simplest (rather than elaborate) explanation of an effect that requires New Physics. Luckily, focusing on heavy flavor as a probe of TeV scale physics, these technicalities can be engaged, thus acknowledging their beauty, but avoiding getting ensnared by them, while aiming for the deeper, higher scale physics that such probes afford. This tracts orinated as a plenary talk at the SUSY 2007 conference in Karlsruhe, Germany.
We present a measurement of R_{K^{*}}, the branching fraction ratio B(B→K^{*}μ^{+}μ^{-})/B(B→K^{*}e^{+}e^{-}), for both charged and neutral B mesons. The ratio for the charged case R_{K^{*+}} is the ...first measurement ever performed. In addition, we report absolute branching fractions for the individual modes in bins of the squared dilepton invariant mass q^{2}. The analysis is based on a data sample of 711 fb^{-1}, containing 772×10^{6} BBover ¯ events, recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The obtained results are consistent with standard model expectations.
We present a search for lepton-flavor-violating τ decays into three leptons (electrons or muons) using 782 fb−1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider. ...No evidence for these decays is observed and we set 90% confidence level upper limits on the branching fractions between 1.5×10−8 and 2.7×10−8.
Ag2O/TiO2 nanobelt heterostructures have been found to possess high ultraviolet photocatalytic activity, but a poor cycling performance. After a S-doping treatment, the obtained Ag2O/Ag2S2O7/TiO2 ...heterostructured nanobelts exhibited an enhanced and stable photocatalytic activity under both ultraviolet and visible light irradiation, which was exemplified by photo-degradation of organic pollutants and photocurrent response measurements. Meanwhile, the crystal structure and phase transformation of Ag2O, Ag2S2O7 and Ag2S were studied by XRD and XPS measurements.
Abstract
Molecular weight, as one of the characteristic indexes of the intrinsic structure of epoxy resin, has a decisive impact on the curing process of epoxy resin, the structure of cured products ...and even the properties of composites. It is an important indicator for the quality evaluation of epoxy resin. This paper introduces various instrumental analysis techniques for molecular weight testing, including gel permeation chromatography, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, vapor pressure osmometry and mass spectrometry, and also compares and reviews the principles, characteristics, applications, and problems of each method, and finally looks into the research prospects.
A solar radio burst is the enhancement of radio emission during the release of solar magnetic energy. It is an important indicator of the level of solar activity. In this paper, we propose a solar ...radio-burst forecast model that takes the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO)/Michelson Doppler Imager (MDI) full-disk solar magnetograms as inputs. The model takes advantage of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to automatically extract the effective feature information from the input images. Through multiple trainings, the relationship between the magnetic-field characteristics of the full-disk solar magnetograms and the solar radio bursts is established, so it is possible to predict the presence or absence of a solar radio burst on that day. The experimental results demonstrate that the forecast Accuracy of the proposed model is 0.875 ± 0.007. The True Skill Statistic (TSS) is 0.723 ± 0.026, and the Heidke Skill Score (HSS) is 0.713 ± 0.019. These results indicate the strong reliability and wide applicability of the forecast model proposed in this paper. The proposed model is also used to predict solar type-II and type-III bursts, respectively. It is found that the prediction performance for type-III bursts is better than that of type-II bursts. The result is well explained from the differences of their formation mechanisms.

This work is on the Physics of the B Factories. Part A of this book contains a brief description of the SLAC and KEK B Factories as well as their detectors, BaBar and Belle, and data taking related ...issues. Part B discusses tools and methods used by the experiments in order to obtain results. The results themselves can be found in Part C.
The online percent coefficient of variation reporting system could monitor the variation of tacrolimus trough level (T0) and identify kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) with a higher percent ...coefficient of variation (%CV) instantly. Consequently, transplant doctors and pharmacists could take actions to improve drug variability. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of the system for higher intrapatient variability of T0 in KTRs.
The T0 data were collected with KTRs routinely followed up at an outpatient clinic between June 2016 and November 2016. The %CV was calculated with T0 data within 6 months before and after the index date. The last outpatient clinic visit date was before December 1, 2016. The KTRs with %CV of T0 greater than 22% were enrolled.
The study consisted of 183 KTRs (96 male, 87 female), the median age was 50 years (interquartile range IQR, 41.0–57.0), and the median years post-kidney transplantation was 7 years (IQR, 3.0–12.4). The median T0 and creatinine level at baseline were 6.09 ng/mL (IQR, 4.80–7.52) and 1.33 mg/dL (IQR, 1.03–1.72), respectively. After the intervention, the median %CV of T0 was significantly lower than before, 32% (IQR, 26%–42%) vs 22% (IQR, 15%–33%), P < .001. The average improvement of %CV was also significantly better in KTRs with %CV ≥ 30% (median, from 41% to 25%) than KTRs with %CV between 22% and 30% (median, from 26% to 20%), P < .001.
The results of this study indicate that continuously aggressive intervention with an online %CV reporting system effectively improves intrapatient variability of T0 in KTRs.
•Intrapatient variability of tacrolimus trough concentration is a very common and important issue in kidney transplant recipients.•Intervention using an online percent coefficient reporting system is effective for reducing the intrapatient variation of tacrolimus trough concentration in kidney transplant recipients.•The average improvement of percent coefficient of variation was better in kidney transplant recipients with higher variation by the intervention of an online percent coefficient reporting system.
Abstract
High-pressure free radical emulsion polymerization was used to prepare the fluorine certified reference material candidates for fluoroether rubber. Ion chromatography method and high ...performance liquid chromatography were adopted for the determination of the certified reference material, and various sources of uncertainty in the determination process were analyzed and calculated to gain the expanded uncertainty by synthesis. The homogeneity of the certified reference material was checked by
F
test and the stability was investigated by
t
test. The results show that the prepared fluorine certified reference material for fluoroether rubber has accurate value and good homogeneity and stability.
