Considered a sub-sector of horse raisin units, equestrian tourism is a form of modern tourism very popular among the young people as both an entertaining recreational and adventure activity and a ...form of animal therapy in the treatment and rehabilitation of autistic children; it is also a sub-type of rural tourism, adventure tourism, or ecological tourism. Equestrian tourism practiced without management strategies can have both positive and negative effects on the environment: it can affect roads by soil compaction, vegetation by the introduction of invasive plant species, and tourists by the noise and smell. In order to reduce the negative effects on the environment, we need to develop management strategies for the routes and visitors as well as for the areas where equestrian tourism is practiced; we also need to develop environmental-friendly tourism products depending on the degree of difficulty, supplying accommodation at the horse farm and horse riding lessons, conferences, chart rides in the nature, and horseback holidays.
Mangalitza pig (
) becomes more popular in European countries. The goal of this study was to evaluate the fatty acid profile of the raw and thermally processed Mangalitza hard fat from Northern ...Romania. For the first time, the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-Principal component analysis technique (GC-MS-PCA)-was applied to evaluate the dissimilarity of Mangalitza lipid fractions. Three specific layers of the hard fat of Mangalitza from Northern Romania were subjected to thermal treatment at 130 °C for 30 min. Derivatized samples were analyzed by GC-MS. The highest relative content was obtained for oleic acid (methyl ester) in all hard fat layers (36.1-42.4%), while palmitic acid was found at a half (21.3-24.1%). Vaccenic or elaidic acids (trans) were found at important concentrations of 0.3-4.1% and confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. These concentrations are consistently higher in thermally processed top and middle lipid layers, even at double values. The GC-MS-PCA coupled technique allows us to classify the unprocessed and processed Mangalitza hard fat specific layers, especially through the relative concentrations of vaccenic/elaidic, palmitic, and stearic acids. Further studies are needed in order to evaluate the level of degradation of various animal fats by the GC-MS-PCA technique.
In this paper the authors try to open a window towards the emotional, psychological and social benefits of a new form of therapy – the zoo-therapy (the therapy intermediated by animals). The strong ...relationship between men and animals as well as its material advantages are very well known but their impact on the conditions, on the stress decrease, on the prevention of some types of cancer, on the rise of self-esteem or school performance is still little known. The emotional and medical benefits can be successfully obtained in old people, children, chronic patients, or children with autism – even in people who are not the animals’ owners. Thanks to this information, farmers can choose new alternatives for their work with the animals, in the treatment of different kinds of diseases and helped by specialists.
Being a relatively new domain, educational agri-tourism activity involves a number of factors influencing its development: knowledge of the economic, social and cultural domain limits but in the same ...time accurate information about farm availability to receive children and/or people with special needs. For this paper was created a questionnaire (with 19 items) for farmers in order to find if there is availability to develop and to change their farm in a certain way - to educate new generation through the relation with animals life and care, eating natural food and being creative in the nature. This questionnaire was applied to 60 farmers from the Timiş County and the answers have shown that many of them (95%) are willing to receive person with special needs and there are farmers which think they don’t have anything to offer to develop and strengthen some certain traits in children personality and about the advantages for parents, teachers and local community.
Stock-breeding is one of the oldest human occupations. A fact that has always raised interest is that the breeder’s degree of involvement influences the animals’ well-being. Some elements of the ...breeder’s personality, his character, aptitudes and skills, are significant for the organization of the farm so that it becomes profitable, especially in creating proper life conditions for the animals, as well as insuring an optimal atmosphere for the employees. One of the breeder’s standards is the animal’s well-being. It can be achieved with the help of the breeder’s skills, efficient farm management and due to proper and well maintained equipment, thus adding up to the breeder’s managerial qualities.
Tourism makes an important contribution to culture and the historic heritage by providing means for keeping the traditions alive and financing its protection as well as increasing visitor ...appreciation. Cultural tourism helps preserve the cultural and historic heritage. Therapeutic tourism doesn’t just depend on mineral water baths and natural therapeutic sites, it also depends on hospital and healthcare development in the country providing a modern medical care service. At Buziaş the emphasis falls on the unique procedures with natural therapeutic factors. The healing qualities of carbonated water, mofettes and sedative bioclimate are well-known and highlighted by the studies and researches carried out until now, as well as by the high number of patients with significant improvement in symptomoatology. Moreover, Buziaş has also a rich cultural heritage, including historical monuments which, once restored, will be able to compete other famous international destinations. That's why an urgent managerial strategy is necessary to be elaborated in order that Buziaş be able to regain its prestige and attract a large number of visitors, eager to contemplate the natural and cultural beauties of this resort.
This paper intends to underline the unknown natural and historical resources of Seceani, one of the smallest and until recently isolated villages in Timiş County, Orţişoara Commune, Banat, Romania. ...Two are the objectives with great natural tourism potential in the commune: the resource of geothermal water and the muddy volcanoes. Their exploitation would ensure the economical development of the area, as well as the experimentation of alternative tourism, such as ecotourism and therapeutic tourism. Besides this, there is also the vicinity of the biggest Bronze Age Fortification from Corneşti and a medieval fortress just in the centre of the village. The promotion of a rural and historic tourism in Seceani will enhance the progress of the area and also will increase the image of Banat, as a tourism destination not only in Romania, but in all Europe and even further. Its purpose may be to educate the traveler, to provide funds for ecological conservation, to directly benefit the economic development and political empowerment of this local community, or to foster respect for the authentic Banat culture and mentality.

From an economic and social point of view, hunting tourism has two sub-categories: resident hunting and tourism hunting (for the travellers who travel long distances to participate in hunting). ...Tourism hunting covers six types of tourism: subsistence indigenous hunting, traditional hunting, commercial hunting, recreational-sport hunting, integrated hunting, and optimum level game maintenance hunting. Hunting tourists should be classified into three distinct categories: large game hunting tourists (for whom what matters is adventure and trophies), small game hunting tourists (interested in the hunting experience), and experienced hunting tourists (characterised by the use of frontal charge guns or arrow shooting). Hunting tourism can be considered a sub-category of nature tourism because it contributes to the preservation of area biodiversity, of cultural tourism as educational, cultural activity, and of sustainable tourism in protected areas (ecotourism) whose hunting tourism sub-category is trophy hunting.
