ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: During the last 50 years, unfortunately, the claims of what economics as a science considered rational, logical and manageable and the economists thought that they understood the ...underlying economic processes have been proven false by economic realities. Recession that has afflicted the global economy during the last five years has placed both economics and the economists amid fire. It is being said that the neoclassical economics of the post-war years failed lead to the promised sustained economic growth. The economists have misread the business cycles and are thus dumbfounded. They do not know how and when the world economies would recover. The failures on both fronts have provoked a severe lack of confidence in the validity of economic theories and the economists have been branded incompetent and useless. The authors, in the following pages, intend to reflect upon some of the related issues and express their opinion. // ABSTRACT IN CROATIAN: Tijekom proteklih 50 godina, ekonomska je stvarnost pokazala da su bile pogresne tvrdnje koje je ekonomska znanost smatrala racionalnim, logicnim i razumljivim, a ekonomisti su, pak, mislili da razumiju ekonomske procese na kojima se one zasnivaju. Recesija, koja je proteklih pet godina pogodila svjetsko gospodarstvo, bacila je ekonomiju i ekonomiste usred vatre. Govori se kako neoklasicna ekonomija, u poslijeratnom razdoblju, nije uspjela dovesti do obecanog stalnog gospodarskog rasta. Ekonomisti su pogresno protumacili poslovne cikluse pa su tako ostali zateceni. Ne znaju kako ni kada bi se gospodarstvo moglo oporaviti. Neuspjesi, na jednom i drugom planu, su izazvali ozbiljno nepovjerenje u valjanost ekonomskih teorija, a ekonomiste se proglasilo nestrucnima i beskorisnima. The article studies the manner in which contents of services of tourist products at the destination are specialised, according to the needs and requirements of tourists. The first part highlights a ...theoretical review on the history of the tourism industry with emphasis on motives as a key factor, which is important in tourist decision-making when choosing the destination. In order to study the level of the specialisation of tourist offers in Dubrovnik particularly, in accordance with needs of tourists, the research was focused on: (1) tourist behaviour in terms of selection of key factors that meet tourist needs, important when making decisions about travelling to a destination; and (2) attitudes of the tourist consumers in accordance with the level of specialised contents of services used. Using the method of inferential statistics, the empirical research was conducted on a sample size of 327 tourists. Demographic characteristics and characteristics of the tourists' stay in Dubrovnik were taken into account, considering the assessment level of the specialisation and defining the main factors that influence the selection of a destination. Our findings speak in favour of the majority of services in Dubrovnik having specialised features and content, in accordance with the needs of tourists.

Turizam se danas u svijetu odlikuje novim organizacijskim i spregovnim mehanizmima. Ti mehanizmi u okružju globalnih - svjetskih i regionalnih - europskih tijekova, predmet su ovoga rada. Riječ je o ...nadasve dinamičnim procesima koji su neizostavni izazov turizmu 21. stoljeća, i to ne samo kao sastavnica svjetskoga gospodarstva nego i kao presudni čimbenik njegova razvoja. Pritom, pogledi na globalizaciju se razlikuju, počevši od onih koji ju je prihvaćaju, kao snažni organizacijski i upravljački aparat, nazivajući ga “globalnom biblijom”, pa do drugih koji upozoravaju na nužne njezine posljedice, kompleksnu društvenu bezličnost ili koncept nepouzdanosti.
Prema najnovijim istraživanjima proces se globalizacije ustrojava na načelu "organizacije gospodarstva", utvrđujući prednosti i pogodnosti pojedine zemlje u odnosu na drugu zemlju i slično. Ipak, postupno, ali i neizostavno mijenjaju se pogledi na globalizaciju i ona sve više postaje imperativom današnjice. U prostornom pogledu, globalizacija potiče i teritorijalizaciju i, jednako tako, deteritorijalizaciju turizma u mnogim regijama svijeta.
Takvi složeni procesi uključuju više međunarodnih tijela koja neposredno i posredno usmjeravaju turizam. U procesu europske integracije formirana su tako brojna tijela što usmjeravaju razvitak turizma na svim prostornim i organizacijskim razinama.

Since the ancient times, cities have attracted visitors in large numbers for a variety of reasons. In modern times, once again, large cities are competing among themselves for attracting tourists. ...Although, large cities have always attracted visitors but until recently, with the exception in cities like London, Paris, New York, and few others, tourist industry has not been perceived as a significant economic activity, nor have these cities been classified as tourists centres. In the last quarter century city tourism has become a key source of revival of large cities. This article revisits some of the key issues of urban tourism.
This paper tries to establish a methodological framework for the analysis of export-import price relationship in selected tourist destinations in the Mediterranean. Due to the lack of reliable price ...data for a longer time series, the following analysis (based on indirectly derived variables) is restricted to the period 2000-2010. Classical economic theory suggests that under free trade conditions all participants are benefited by economic gains. However, further research in modern economics has proved that this hypothesis is only partially true. In this paper, the author tries to examine if the theory proves true in case of tourism and how the sectoral demand responds to changes in price and income. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
U ovom se radu pokušava postaviti metodološki okvir za analizu odnosa uvozno-izvoznih cijena u odabranim turističkim destinacijama na Sredozemlju. Zbog nedostatka pouzdanih podataka za dulje ...vremenske serije, ova je analiza (bazirana na indirektno izvedenim varijablama) ograničena na razdoblje od 2000. do 2010. godine. Klasična ekonomska teorija pretpostavlja da, u uvjetima slobodne trgovine, svi sudionici imaju ekonomsku korist. Međutim, istraživanja u suvremenoj ekonomici su pokazala kako je ta pretpostavka samo djelomično točna. Autor u ovom radu pokušava ispitati vrijedi li ta teorija i za turizam te kako sektorska potražnja reagira na promjene cijena i dohotka. Poput svih drugih sektora svjetskoga gospodarstva, turizam je također osjetio pritisak krize
koja se javila kao posljedica globalne gospodarske krize. Svjetska ekonomska situacija nakon
2007/2008 ...postavila je dodatni pritisak na psihofizičko stanje ljudi i njihovo zdravlje. Ljudi sve
više traže nove načine opuštanja i regeneriranja. Neki oblici turizma, na globalnoj razini, zbog
ekonomske krize, su usporeni, no turistički sektor u cjelini iznimno dobro stoji tijekom posljednje
dvije-tri godina nudeći novi model turizma koji se općenito naziva Wellness. Unutar turizma,
wellness je relativno novi trend koji registrira impresivan rast. Širom svijeta sve više i više ljudi
koji putuju na odredišta koja pružaju wellness sadržaje. Jačanje ‘wellness koncepta može se
pripisati dvjema faktorima. Prvo, WHO odavno podupire integrirani koncept «blagostanja »
i « fitness »u svoje globalne zdravstvene politike. Drugo, ukupno obrazovanje ljudi povećalo je
ljudsku svijest o osobnom zdravlju. Ponuđači turističkih usluga, posebno luksuzni hoteli su se
brzo prilagodili i stvorili paletu wellness usluge kao što su SPA i zdravstveni tretmani, zaštita
zdravlja na radu, kozmetički tretmani, sportski objekti, duhovne aktivnosti, masaže, i programi
rehabilitacije, itd. Budući da ne postoje baze podataka na temu wellness turizma ovaj članak u
osnovi razmatra neke konceptualne aspekte wellness turizma.
