Serious educational games provide a novel way to transfer knowledge on cultural heritage, which can especially attract young people by using interactive multimedia technology. The paper presents a ...new flexible tool for developing, managing and presenting games. This server-based solution can facilitate the game development by applying game templates, layout styles and question pools. It also supports the development of game packages for multiple languages and multiple platforms (Web and mobile). The games can easily be customised for various learning domains. Complex games can be composed from several so-called minigames (e.g. puzzle, multiple choice, memory game, crossword etc.) and the tool also supports the evaluation of the user answers and organising competitions. The games were applied to deepen knowledge on various topics related to our cultural heritage. The latest game development is represented by the serious educational game “The Thracians” running in a virtual 360º panorama environment, which presents the life, beliefs and traditions of the ancient tribes.

The paper presents a guided smartphone walk (Attila József Literary Walk) and its latest supplements, based in district 9 of Budapest. The thematic guided walk developed 2 years ago covers the scenes ...of the childhood of the poet Attila József. Several interactive games related to the life of the poet were developed and integrated into the application. This April, the developers of the walk prepared and arranged a special orientation field competition based on the mobile games for students studying in the district.
The paper presents the application of panorama pictures for presenting cultural heritage sites in an attractive way. High-resolution interactive spherical panorama pictures of several famous ...locations (churches, museum, bridges) in Veliko Tarnovo region, Bulgaria, and presentation tools on both – mobile application and web pages, were created in a cooperation of MTA SZTAKI and IMI BAS under a joint research project. The paper introduces the mobile presentation of Bulgarian bells as the newest developments in the GUIDE@HAND mobile application family. The integration of the Web based archive on the Bulgarian bells ...(Multimedia Fund “BellKnow”) and the mobile application family made it possible that information on bells can be presented on mobile devices. A standalone offline mobile application (BOOK@HAND Bells) was created providing multimedia information on bells including textual description (history, creator, material, height, location, description, etc.), audio files containing the sounds of the bells, photos, videos presenting the bells while being tolled and diagrams representing the acoustic characteristics of the bells.
The paper presents how the VR technology helps tourists in selecting their destinations. The current state-of-the-art service is the result of systematic development activities which has become ...available in the tourist information office (Tourinform) in the town of Miskolc. The visitors can discover the local sights either on the Web site of the tourist organisation, or in the GUIDE@HAND Miskolc smart phone application, or from now on, in a virtual space due to the Virtual Reality (VR) technology with the help of 3D VR glasses and spherical panorama pictures.
The paper presents the newest developments in integrating Bulgarian Iconographical Digital Library (BIDL) and the tourist mobile application family named as (GUIDE@HAND). The integration made it ...possible for collections to be created by the user at the BIDL Web page and then downloaded to the GUIDE@HAND Veliko Tarnovo application by using QR codes. This year, a new standalone offline mobile application (BOOK@HAND) was created providing information on icons available in BIDL where the collection presentation functionality of the former system was enhanced with new features. The main novelty of the application is the option to present collections in a virtual exhibition room by using panorama pictures in off-line mode.

The paper presents an offline mobile application (INFO@HAND) providing information about the DIPP conference series for conference participants and scientists interested in the conference scope and ...topics. In order to support the participants of the international conference, the application contains an event calendar, provides information about the presentations (including the abstracts as well), the presenters, locations and the organiser(s), presents the call for papers and the important deadlines, a map with the conference locations, etc. The offline application is more than a conference guide because it can also present conference materials (presenters and papers) of the preceding years, thereby representing a scientific knowledge base.

Guided walks within the GUIDE@HAND audio tourist guide introduce several cemeteries of Europe. In order to support the participants of the international seminar on heritage values in historical cemeteries, the application includes a mobile conference guide, as well.
