Management of dementia involves a multidisciplinary approach which also requires active participation from family members and caregivers. Thus, having easy access to information about dementia care ...is pertinent. Internet-based information is an emerging method for the same.
To perform a comparative assessment of patient-oriented online information available on treatment of dementia over web pages in English and Hindi language.
Observational study was conducted online through a general internet search engine (www.google.com). Web pages containing patient-oriented online information on treatment of dementia in English and Hindi were reviewed to assess their content and quality, esthetics, and interactivity. Appropriate descriptive and inferential statistics were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences.
A total of 70 web pages met the eligibility criteria. Content quality assessed using the DISCERN score was significantly higher for English web pages compared to Hindi web pages (
< 0.01). About 72.4% (21/29) of English and only 9.8% (4/41) of Hindi web pages had a total DISCERN score of 40 or above, indicating good quality. For esthetics, the median score for English pages was significantly higher than for Hindi web pages (
< 0.01). The web pages with Health On Net (HON) certification had significantly better content quality.
Our study revealed a scarcity of good quality online information about dementia and its treatment, especially in the Hindi language. English language websites showed better content quality than Hindi websites. HON Code label might be used as an indicator of better content quality for online resources informing on dementia treatment by lay people.
Introduction: Sri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS) or Adi Granth is the main Sikh scripture. The SGGS promote principles of liberty and impartiality to pursue the way to the Guru following the path of peace ...and prosperity. The Sikh code of conduct is known as Sikh Rehat Maryada. The code is an outline of the mandates of daily routine followed by every Sikh. It stipulates philosophy and mandates, according to the teachings of Sikhism's 10 gurus. The studies show the relationship between SGGS and Yoga. In SGGS the first phrase, the Mool mantra, starts with the idiom, Ek Onkar (AUM). The primary goal of SGGS is to achieve union with God by constantly remembering God's name. Practice is oriented around three "golden rules." Guru Nanak also hinted in his hymns about these chakras. Guru had talked about the Naval Lotus. In the heart (with the blooming of lotus), he has seen the Lord whose knowledge is spoken of as unfathomable. The way of the blooming of this lotus is described by Guru Nanak by saying that when with the help of "Guru-Sabad," the heart lotus blooms and fills with nectar which makes one contented. The need of the conceptual frame arises due to lack of scientific understanding of SGGS.
Methodology: Scale development is a systematic process that is carried out at different stages of analysis. Following recommendations of DeVellis RF and Pasqual L scale development for the present study was accomplished in three stages namely item generation, theoretical analysis, and psychometric analysis the 30 items developed after content validity testing and cognitive interviews with select respondents.
Results and Conclusion: Conceptual framework is developed through the Yogic teachings from SGGS versus Patanjali Yoga Sutra.
ABSTRACT We describe a case of late-onset periodic catatonia with atypical course in an elderly male with onset at the age of 70 years with brief episodes of sudden agitation lasting for a few hours ...of the day, followed by immobility, mutism, ambitendency, withdrawal, and urinary incontinence for the next few days. Four such episodes with complete recovery over the next few days and no residual behavioral symptoms lasting for several years (up to 7 years) without any long-term prophylactic psychotropic use. During the fourth such episode, the patient presented to our facility with a similar abrupt onset of symptoms. All biochemical investigations and neuroimaging findings were found to be noncontributory. On clinical examination, a diagnosis of periodic catatonia was suspected, which was later confirmed by immediate response to the intravenous diazepam challenge given under vitals monitoring in a high-dependency unit setting.
Background: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental health of the individuals and treatment seekers has been immense. Telepsychiatry services were thus undertaken to continue the ...availability of services and maintain follow-up to reduce in-person outpatient visits. Aims and Objectives: (1) To study the sociodemographic and clinical variables of telepsychiatry service users and (2) To assess the compliance to telepsychiatry services in outpatient practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: The case details including sociodemographic variables and clinical variables of telepsychiatry service users from June 1, 2020, to May 31, 2021, were collected from the telemedicine pro forma approved by the institute. A comparison was drawn between the diagnosis of individuals seeking psychiatric help for the first time and old follow-up patients. The overall improvement and number of follow-ups were also analyzed. The data collected were tabulated and analyzed as per coding system using statistical analysis system software. Results: The data were analyzed and were studied retrospectively for a total of 300 patients. More patients were in the age group of 18–30 years (35.7%), males (70.3%), and were from an urban background (87.3%). The predominant reason for consultation was renewal of prescriptions (53.66%). Patients with International Classification of Disease diagnoses of F10–19, F30–39, and F40–49 were proportionately high. The maximum number of patients were followed up on 3–6 occasions (49.16%). 86.6% of the patients showed a significant improvement. Conclusion: The study concludes that telepsychiatry is very useful as a mode of treatment and its significant role in the enrollment of new patients with mental health issues as well as continuing follow-up, especially when physical consultations are difficult.
Microtubules are protein biopolymers formed through polymerization of heterodimers of α- and β-tubulins. Disruption of microtubules can induce cell cycle arrest in G2-M phase and formation of ...abnormal mitotic spindles. Their importance in mitosis and cell division makes microtubules an attractive target for anticancer drug discovery. A number of naturally occurring compounds such as paclitaxel, epothilones, vinblastine, combretastatin, and colchicines exert their effect by changing dynamics of tubulin such as polymerization and depolymerization. During past few years, rapid development of the novel tubulin polymerization inhibitors has been witnessed. Diverse classes of chemical compounds from the natural as well as from the synthetic origin have been extensively studied. This review highlights the various classes of synthetically derived chemical compounds those have been reported in last few years as potential tubulin polymerization inhibitors. A brief synthetic methodology to access these compounds has been highlighted along with the brief SAR studies. We strongly believe that this review will provide a platform to the synthetic chemists and biologists to design and synthesize new and potent compounds to inhibit the tubulin polymerization.

Piezoelectric nanogenerators are one of the possible solutions for generating power in milliwatts for various mobility applications. They can also be utilized as tactile sensors. Since ...poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) has a greater dipole moment (3.5 D) than poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), it has a strong potential for use as piezoelectric nanogenerators and pressure sensors. However, due to strong dipole-dipole repulsion, the nitrile groups are difficult to align in a zig-zag configuration resulting in reduced ability of the system to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. To address this issue, we have incorporated ZnO nanoparticles (ZnP) and ZnO nanowires (ZnW) in PAN films. Due to the strong interaction of ZnO nanostructures with PAN, the dipole-dipole repulsion reduces resulting in increased zigzag conformation of PAN. Compared to ZnP, ZnW was found to show better alignment of PAN nitrile groups and faster relaxation of dipoles after removal of stress. Without any external poling, PAN, ZnP-PAN, and ZnW-PAN films based piezoelectric nanogenerators could generate 27.6, 79.3 and 86.3 mW/m2 of power, respectively. The incorporation of 5 wt% ZnP and ZnW also significantly improved the pressure sensitivities of the devices to 0.9 fFPa−1 and 1.1 fFPa−1, respectively, as compared to 0.1 fFPa−1 for pristine PAN film.

Linear chains of spins acting as quantum wires are a promising approach for achieving scalable quantum information processors. Nuclear spins in apatite crystals provide an ideal test bed for the ...experimental study of quantum information transport, as they closely emulate a one-dimensional spin chain, while magnetic resonance techniques can be used to drive the spin chain dynamics and probe the accompanying transport mechanisms. Here we demonstrate initialization and readout capabilities in these spin chains, even in the absence of single-spin addressability. These control schemes enable preparing desired states for quantum information transport and probing their evolution under the transport Hamiltonian. We further optimize the control schemes by a detailed analysis of 19F NMR lineshape.
