This article speaks about Dubrovnik's Dominicans who were engaged in natural studies or wrote medical dissertations. It brings a list of manuscripts and printed works kept in the Dominican monastery ...library. These include six incunabulae and more than 200 works on anthropology, anatomy, hygiene, pharmacy, and general, theoretical, and practical medicine, internal and cerebral medicine, orthopaedics, surgery, ophthalmology, psychology, and gerontology. Tractates on all kinds of diseases, especially contagious, and their treatment, are also included. A portion of these works comes from donations by various doctors who worked in Dubrovnik, and others were acquired for the needs of the monastery pharmacy. These works were written in Latin, Italian, French, German, and Croatian. Such a wide range of works on almost all aspects of medicine is more akin to a professional library of a medical college than to a monastery library, howevergrand or important it really is.
The paper analyses the mutual effect of the Vc and the Adriatic-Ionian Corridors as well as their importance in the traffic connection of the Middle Adriatic with the Danube Basin from several ...aspects. The first aspect is the positional one due to the fact that the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a contact area of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Croatia and Montenegro. The second corridor is related to the definition of the basic transport network of the West Balkan countries within the framework of the EU initiative and the effect on the transport connection of the Middle Adriatic and the Danube Basin. This paper contains an analysis of the state of the existing documentation departing from the strategies of the traffic development, physical planning, study and project documentation of the said corridors in individual countries.
The author brings a synthetic presentation of the life and work of the Thessalonica brothers Constantine (Cyril) and Methodius in the text and context of the historical circumstances in the 9th ...century starting from their youth and education up to their historical mission in Great Moravia, which has changed the life and destiny not only of that country but of other Slavic peoples as well. A special emphasis is laid on less known aspects of historical circumstances and their life and work, which make a rounded-up and relief picture of their work not only in the historical retrospective but also in the perspective of the present moment.
The origin of the Dominican monastery pharmacy is not clear, but sources suggest that it had operated from the eve of the great earthquake in Dubrovnik in 1667 to the beginning of the 19th century. ...Its last pharmacist, praised for his competence, passed away in 1803, leaving no one behind The prior travelled all the way to Naples to find a competent pharmacist in his stead, but never returned. Story has it that on the way back, the abbot and the pharmacist lost their lives in a shipwreck. The French army occupied the town in 1806, and the monastery was turned into a military camp. Following the retreat of the French army in 1814, the monastery was returned to the Dominicans, but the pharmacy was never restored.

O važnosti jezika u povijesti i životu svakoga naroda ne treba trošiti mnogo riječi. Jezik je, naime, bitna odrednica i sastavnica identiteta svakog naroda, vezivno tkivo i najbolji jamac njegova ...kulturnoga i političkoga jedinstva. Zato govoriti o jeziku znači govoriti o narodu koji njime govori. On je „znak raspoznavanja svakoga naroda“ kaže poznati engleski leksikograf i književni kritičar Samuel Johnson.
