Obesity is one of the most common and major health concerns worldwide. Weight management through dietary supplements with natural plant extracts has become the focus of current research. Sweet orange ...essential oil (SOEO) is a natural plant extract, with many bioactivities. In order to evaluate the weight loss effect of SOEO microcapsules and investigate the underlying mechanism, we fed high-fat diet-induced obese SD rats with SOEO microcapsules for 15 days and found that SOEO microcapsules reduced body weight gain by 41.4%, decreased total cholesterol level, alleviated liver and adipose tissue pathological alteration. The results of fluorescence quantitative PCR revealed that decreasing the expression of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor-γ, upregulating of uncoupling protein 2, hormone sensitive lipase and carnitine palmitoyltransferase I, inhibiting the expression of acetyl-CoA carboxylase appear to be the mechanism of SOEO microcapsules to lose weight. This study suggests that SOEO microcapsule is a potential dietary supplement for weight loss.

The scale of multi-microgrid (MMG) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs) is increasing dramatically with the increase in the new energy penetration ratio, and developing an integrated energy system ...containing a multi-microgrid for hydrogen fuel vehicles brings great challenges to power grid operation. Focusing on the difficulties of the access of multiple microgrids for the low-carbon and economic operation of the system, this paper proposes an optimal interconnected heterogeneous multi-microgrid power-heat-carbon scheduling strategy for hydrogen-fueled vehicles. Firstly, an HFCV model is established, and then an optimal scheduling model is constructed for the cooperative trading of power-heat-carbon in a multi-microgrid, on the basis of which the low-carbon economic operation of the multi-microgrid is realized. The results of the case study show that the scheduling strategy in this paper reduces carbon emissions by about 7.12% and costs by about 3.41% compared with the independent operation of the multi-microgrid. The degrees of interaction of each multi-microgrid are also analyzed under different HFCV penetration rates.
Photovoltaic (PV) reconfiguration is an effective solution for reducing the hot spot effect caused by partial shadows on PV arrays. This paper proposed an efficient atom search optimization- (ASO-) ...based PV reconfiguration method. The analysis and comparison with the other four reconfiguration methods were performed by three evaluation criteria, which are mismatch loss, fill factor, and standard deviation, respectively. The conclusion can be drawn that the efficiency, rapidity, and reliability of ASO are superior to those of other methods. Besides, a moving cloud shadow mode of 9 × 9-scaled PV array is designed in this paper, which can be widely recommended to thoroughly study a PV reconfiguration approach.
The 2021 Yangbi earthquake sequence occurred on the southwestern margin of the Chuandian block in China, which is a typical foreshock-mainshock-aftershock sequence. We investigate source properties ...of this earthquake sequence with seismic and geodetic data. Focal mechanisms of M ≥ 2.0 events in this earthquake sequence are determined using P wave first-motion polarity plus S/P amplitude ratio data from local short-period and broadband seismic stations. The determined focal mechanisms together with spatial distribution of the earthquake sequence indicate the overall northwest-southeast-trending seismogenic faults with dominant strike-slip motions. We conduct kinematic finite-fault inversion with strong-motion, local broadband seismic, and coseismic InSAR plus GNSS displacement data, finding that the mainshock ruptured a major asperity unilaterally with a rupture length and duration being approximately 15 km and 6.5 s, respectively. The released scalar seismic moment is 1.7 × 1018 Nm, corresponding to a moment magnitude MW 6.1. Besides, stress field inversion results manifest that source area is characterized by a strike-slip stress regime and the local stress field has changed before and after the mainshock. We suggest that rupture initiation, propagation, and arrest of the 2021 Yangbi earthquake sequence may be regulated by the immanent strength and stress heterogeneities of the seismogenic fault.
Currently, the integration of distributed power supply into the power grid is steadily increasing. The grid’s carrying capacity serves as a crucial metric for evaluating the grid’s resilience ...following the widespread integration of distributed power supply. During typhoon conditions, if the power grid experiences line breakage and load loss faults, the grid’s framework is altered, rendering the conventional carrying capacity assessment method obsolete. This study introduces a method for assessing the risk of line carrying capacity and an index for line overload probability under typhoon conditions, integrating line and transformer capacity constraints to evaluate the grid’s carrying capacity risk. The probability of line failure is modeled during typhoon events, and a modified IEEE39 node example is employed to simulate a high-penetration grid in a typhoon scenario. Addressing the issue of inadequate intraday dispatch capability under insufficient carrying capacity, we propose a multi-timescale dispatch method and derive the optimal grid dispatch strategy using the viscous bacteria algorithm. The efficacy of the multi-timescale dispatch strategy in addressing the grid’s carrying capacity risk is validated through simulation, while the economic cost of mitigating the grid’s carrying capacity risk and the line overload probability is assessed across varying parameter values.
The synergistic effect of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) on the flotation separation of magnesite and dolomite using sodium oleate (NaOL) as a collector has been studied through flotation ...experiments, zeta potential measurements, contact angle measurements, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy analysis (FT-IR), particle size measurements and transmittance measurements. The flotation experiments show that when the synergist, SDBS, is added to the collector, NaOL, the collecting ability and ion resistance of NaOL can be improved so that the flotation separation of magnesite and dolomite can be realized. Zeta potential measurements, contact angle measurements and FT-IR analysis indicate that SDBS and NaOL can co-adsorb on the surface of magnesite. Particle size measurements and transmittance measurements show that SDBS can also improve the dispersion and solubility of NaOL in an aqueous solution, so as to achieve a synergistic effect.
In hybrid energy systems, the intermittent and fluctuating nature of new energy sources poses major challenges for the regulation and control of power systems. To mitigate these challenges, energy ...storage devices have gained attention for their ability to rapidly charge and discharge. Collaborating with wind power (WP), energy storage (ES) can participate in the frequency control of regional power grids. This approach has garnered extensive interest from scholars worldwide. This paper proposes a two-region load frequency control model that accounts for thermal power, hydropower, ES, and WP. To address complex, nonlinear optimization problems, the dingo optimization algorithm (DOA) is employed to quickly obtain optimal power dispatching commands under different power disturbances. The DOA algorithm’s effectiveness is verified through the simulation of the two-region model. Furthermore, to further validate the proposed method’s optimization effect, the DOA algorithm’s optimization results are compared with those of the genetic algorithm (GA) and proportion method (PROP). Simulation results show that the optimization effect of DOA is more significant than the other methods.
The kidney is vulnerable to hypoxia-induced injury. One of the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon is cell apoptosis triggered by hypoxia-inducible factor-1-alpha (HIF-1α) activation. MicroRNA-210 ...(miR-210) is known to be induced by HIF-1α and can regulate various pathological processes, but its role in hypoxic kidney injury remains unclear. Here, in both kinds of rat systemic hypoxia and local kidney hypoxia models, we found miR-210 levels were upregulated significantly in injured kidney, especially in renal tubular cells. A similar increase was observed in hypoxia-treated human renal tubular HK-2 cells. We also verified that miR-210 can directly suppress HIF-1α expression by targeting the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of HIF-1α mRNA in HK-2 cells in severe hypoxia. Accordingly, miR-210 overexpression caused significant inhibition of the HIF-1α pathway and attenuated apoptosis caused by hypoxia, while miR-210 knockdown exerted the opposite effect. Taken together, our findings verify that miR-210 is involved in the molecular response in hypoxic kidney lesions
and attenuates hypoxia-induced renal tubular cell apoptosis by targeting HIF-1α directly and suppressing HIF-1α pathway activation

In the context of new power systems, reasonable capacity optimization of multiple power systems can not only reduce carbon emissions, but also improve system safety and stability. This paper proposes ...a situation awareness-based capacity optimization strategy for wind-photovoltaic-thermal power systems and establishes a bi-level model for system capacity optimization. The upper-level model considers environmental protection and economy, and carries out multi-objective optimization of the system capacity planning solution with the objectives of minimizing carbon emissions and total system cost over the whole life cycle of the system, further obtaining a set of capacity planning solutions based on the Pareto frontier. A Pareto optimal solution set decision method based on grey relativity analysis is proposed to quantitatively assess the comprehensive economic–environmental properties of the system. The capacity planning solutions obtained from the upper model are used as the input to the lower model. The lower model integrates system stability, environmental protection, and economy and further optimizes the set of capacity planning solutions obtained from the upper model with the objective of maximizing the inertia security region and the best comprehensive economic–environmental properties to obtain the optimal capacity planning scheme. The NSGA-II modified algorithm (improved NSGA-II algorithm based on dominant strength, INSGA2-DS) is used to solve the upper model, and the Cplex solver is called on to solve the lower model. Finally, the modified IEEE-39 node algorithm is used to verify that the optimized capacity planning scheme can effectively improve the system security and stability and reduce the carbon emissions and total system cost throughout the system life cycle.
Voltage source converter-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) has the advantage of fast and independent controllability on active and reactive power. This paper focuses on effects of commonly ...proposed reactive power control modes, constant reactive power control and AC voltage margin control. Based on the mathematical model of single machine infinity equivalent system with embedded VSC-HVDC, the influence of VSC-HVDC with different reactive power control strategies on transient stability and dynamic stability of the AC system is studied. Then case studies were conducted with a realistic model of grid. The dynamic responses of AC/DC systems for different VSC-HVDC reactive power control modes were compared in detail. It is shown that compared to constant reactive power control, AC voltage margin control can provide voltage support to enhance the transient angle stability of an AC system. However, the fluctuant reactive power injected into a weak AC system may adversely affect power system oscillation damping for VSC-HVDC with AC voltage margin control, if the parameters of the controller have not been optimized to suppress the low-frequency oscillation. The results of this paper can provide certain reference for the decision of an appropriate VSC-HVDC reactive power control mode in practice.
