Demands for large‐scale energy storage systems have driven the development of layered transition‐metal oxide cathodes for room‐temperature rechargeable sodium ion batteries (SIBs). Now, an abnormal ...layered‐tunnel heterostructure Na0.44Co0.1Mn0.9O2 cathode material induced by chemical element substitution is reported. By virtue of beneficial synergistic effects, this layered‐tunnel electrode shows outstanding electrochemical performance in sodium half‐cell system and excellent compatibility with hard carbon anode in sodium full‐cell system. The underlying formation process, charge compensation mechanism, phase transition, and sodium‐ion storage electrochemistry are clearly articulated and confirmed through combined analyses of in situ high‐energy X‐ray diffraction and ex situ X‐ray absorption spectroscopy as well as operando X‐ray diffraction. This crystal structure engineering regulation strategy offers a future outlook into advanced cathode materials for SIBs.

A simple wet chemical process followed by high temperature calcination has been successfully used to coat Li-ion conductive Li4Ti5O12 on the surface of Ni-rich LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2. Physicochemical ...characterization results indicate that a Li4Ti5O12 with a thickness of about 2–3 nm was uniformly distributed on the surface of microspheres, without inducing significant change of the structure and morphology. Electrochemical test results show that proper content of Li4Ti5O12 coating layer can greatly improve the cycling performance and rate capability of Ni-rich LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 for the improved Li+ ions diffusion rate and suppressed side reactions between electrode and electrolyte. Notably, the 1 wt% Li4Ti5O12 coated sample exhibits excellent cycling stability with the capacity retention of 75.86% at 1 C after 170 cycles when cycled between 2.7 and 4.3 V at 25 °C, while that is only 39.40% for bare LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2.
Structural instability and inferior storage property are bottlenecks of the Ni-rich cathodes. Herein, a coating and doping co-modified Ni-rich cathode, in which La and Al is homogeneously doped in ...the inner and an epitaxial layer is distributed in the outer surface region of secondary particle, is constructed. The outer surface layer tightly integrates a La2O3 coating layer, an epitaxial grown LaAl doped atomic structure and a Ni concentration gradient into the bulk phase. The La and Al act as a pillar ion enlarging c axis spacing and a positively charged center, enhancing Li+ transportation and suppressing the phase transition. The outer surface region with La-enriched layer and decreased Ni concentration suppresses the side reactions between organic electrolyte and oxidizing Ni4+ and improves the storage stability in air. During cycling, the modified material exhibits enhanced rate capability and cycling stability with capacity retention of 80.0% after 480 cycles at 10C in the cell potential range of 2.7–4.3 V.

Metal sulfides have been intensively investigated for efficient sodium‐ion storage due to their high capacity. However, the mechanisms behind the reaction pathways and phase transformation are still ...unclear. Moreover, the effects of designed nanostructure on the electrochemical behaviors are rarely reported. Herein, a hydrangea‐like CuS microsphere is prepared via a facile synthetic method and displays significantly enhanced rate and cycle performance. Unlike the traditional intercalation and conversion reactions, an irreversible amorphization process is evidenced and elucidated with the help of in situ high‐resolution synchrotron radiation diffraction analyses, and transmission electron microscopy. The oriented (006) crystal plane growth of the primary CuS nanosheets provide more channels and adsorption sites for Na ions intercalation and the resultant low overpotential is beneficial for the amorphous Cu‐S cluster, which is consistent with the density functional theory calculation. This study can offer new insights into the correlation between the atomic‐scale phase transformation and macro‐scale nanostructure design and open a new principle for the electrode materials' design.

Cuproptosis is a newly discovered unique non-apoptotic programmed cell death distinguished from known death mechanisms like ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis. However, the prognostic value of ...cuproptosis and the correlation between cuproptosis and the tumor microenvironment (TME) in lower-grade gliomas (LGGs) remain unknown.
In this study, we systematically investigated the genetic and transcriptional variation, prognostic value, and expression patterns of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs). The CRG score was applied to quantify the cuproptosis subtypes. We then evaluated their values in the TME, prognostic prediction, and therapeutic responses in LGG. Lastly, we collected five paired LGG and matched normal adjacent tissue samples from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC) to verify the expression of signature genes by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and Western blotting (WB).
Two distinct cuproptosis-related clusters were identified using consensus unsupervised clustering analysis. The correlation between multilayer CRG alterations with clinical characteristics, prognosis, and TME cell infiltration were observed. Then, a well-performed cuproptosis-related risk model (CRG score) was developed to predict LGG patients' prognosis, which was evaluated and validated in two external cohorts. We classified patients into high- and low-risk groups according to the CRG score and found that patients in the low-risk group showed significantly higher survival possibilities than those in the high-risk group (
<0.001). A high CRG score implies higher TME scores, more significant TME cell infiltration, and increased mutation burden. Meanwhile, the CRG score was significantly correlated with the cancer stem cell index, chemoradiotherapy sensitivity-related genes and immune checkpoint genes, and chemotherapeutic sensitivity, indicating the association with CRGs and treatment responses. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses revealed that the CRG score was an independent prognostic predictor for LGG patients. Subsequently, a highly accurate predictive model was established for facilitating the clinical application of the CRG score, showing good predictive ability and calibration. Additionally, crucial CRGs were further validated by qRT-PCR and WB.
Collectively, we demonstrated a comprehensive overview of CRG profiles in LGG and established a novel risk model for LGG patients' therapy status and prognosis. Our findings highlight the potential clinical implications of CRGs, suggesting that cuproptosis may be the potential therapeutic target for patients with LGG.

We applied empagliflozin treatment to lupus-prone MRL/
mice to explore the renal protective potential of SGLT2 inhibitors. An SGLT2 knockout monoclonal podocyte cell line was generated using the CRISPR/Cas9 system to examine the cellular and molecular mechanisms.
In MRL/
mice treated with empagliflozin, the levels of mouse anti-dsDNA IgG-specific antibodies, serum creatinine and proteinuria were markedly decreased. For renal pathology assessment, both the glomerular and tubulointerstitial damages were lessened by administration of empagliflozin. The levels of SGLT2 expression were increased and colocalised with decreased synaptopodin in the renal biopsy samples from patients with LN and MRL/
mice with nephritis. The SGLT2 inhibitor empagliflozin could alleviated podocyte injury by attenuating inflammation and enhanced autophagy by reducing mTORC1 activity. Nine patients with LN treated with SGLT2 inhibitors with more than 2 months of follow-up showed that the use of SGLT2 inhibitors was associated with a significant decrease in proteinuria from 29.6% to 96.3%. Moreover, the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was relatively stable during the treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors.
This study confirmed the renoprotective effect of SGLT2 inhibitors in lupus mice, providing more evidence for non-immunosuppressive therapies to improve renal function in classic autoimmune kidney diseases such as LN.

cathode. The modification strategy not only stabilizes the vulnerable layered structure but also mitigate voltage/capacity attenuation at different cutoff voltages. As a result, the modified cathode with trace content of Al and Ti cations co-doping can broaden the lithium ions diffusion channels, mitigate the structural collapse, and unfavorable phase transformation to some extent. Specifically, the modified sample exhibits remarkable enhanced electrochemical performance in discharge capacity and voltage retention of 76.75%, 98.78% at 1 C after 200 cycles. Even though at elevated voltage, the modified sample shows improved cycle life with a capacity retention of 70.93% after 200 cycles.
Bamboo is an important forest resource in many countries that serves as an excellent substitute for timber products and provides a multitude of other food and non-food uses. This societal and ...economic significance has led to increased bamboo cultivation globally. This review describes the rapid expansion of bamboo hectarage, both intentional and by encroachment, in native and non-native countries. Also presented are details of the influence of bamboo invasion on biodiversity and soil processes as well as potential ecological risk. Finally, we suggest some strategies for controlling bamboo invasion and needs for further research.
LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode materials with high energy density, low cost possesses the potential to meet the development of next-generation lithium ion batteries for electrical vehicles. ...Nevertheless, the practical applications of LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 were severely hindered by poor cycling stability, limited storage properties and insufficient safety due to the unstable structure with high nickel content. Though surface coating could effectively protect the cathode from electrolyte attack，it usually suffers deteriorative electronic and ion conductivity. In this report, LaAlO3 coating, which possesses high ion conductivity and stable structure, was firstly implemented via a simple solid method and extensively investigated with various techniques to clarify the coating effect. The sample with optimized LaAlO3 coating content (3.0 wt%) showed significantly improved cycle stability with a high capacity retention of 84.5% after 200 cycles at 1.0 C，which is about two times higher than that of the pristine (40.6%). And some further investigations also demonstrated the enhanced structural stability, suppressed side reactions and facilitated lithium ion diffusion kinetics.

Opioid-induced hyperalgesia (OIH) is an adverse event of prolonged opioid use that increases pain intensity. The optimal drug to prevent these adverse effects is still unknown. We aimed to conduct a ...network meta-analysis to compare different pharmacological interventions for preventing the increase in postoperative pain intensity caused by OIH.
Several databases were searched independently for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing various pharmacological interventions to prevent OIH. The primary outcomes were postoperative pain intensity at rest after 24 h and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV). Secondary outcomes included pain threshold at 24 h after surgery, total morphine consumption over 24 h, time to first postoperative analgesic requirement, and shivering incidence.
In total, 33 RCTs with 1711 patients were identified. In terms of postoperative pain intensity, amantadine, magnesium sulphate, pregabalin, dexmedetomidine, ibuprofen, flurbiprofen plus dexmedetomidine, parecoxib, parecoxib plus dexmedetomidine, and S (+)-ketamine plus methadone were all associated with milder pain intensity than placebo, with amantadine being the most effective (SUCRA values = 96.2). Regarding PONV incidence, intervention with dexmedetomidine or flurbiprofen plus dexmedetomidine resulted in a lower incidence than placebo, with dexmedetomidine showing the best result (SUCRA values = 90.3).
Amantadine was identified as the best in controlling postoperative pain intensity and non-inferior to placebo in the incidence of PONV. Dexmedetomidine was the only intervention that outperformed placebo in all indicators.
