Self‐healing ability is an important survival feature in nature, with which living beings can spontaneously repair damage when wounded. Inspired by nature, people have designed and synthesized many ...self‐healing materials by encapsulating healing agents or incorporating reversible covalent bonds or noncovalent interactions into a polymer matrix. Among the noncovalent interactions, the coordination bond is demonstrated to be effective for constructing highly efficient self‐healing polymers. Moreover, with the presence of functional metal ions or ligands and dynamic metal–ligand bonds, self‐healing polymers can show various functions such as dielectrics, luminescence, magnetism, catalysis, stimuli‐responsiveness, and shape‐memory behavior. Herein, the recent developments and achievements made in the field of self‐healing polymers based on coordination bonds are presented. The advantages of coordination bonds in constructing self‐healing polymers are highlighted, the various metal–ligand bonds being utilized in self‐healing polymers are summarized, and examples of functional self‐healing polymers originating from metal–ligand interactions are given. Finally, a perspective is included addressing the promises and challenges for the future development of self‐healing polymers based on coordination bonds.

Silent information regulator 1 (Sirt1) is a deacetylase, which plays an important role in the occurrence and development of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Our previous study shows that Yin yang 1 (YY1), ...a widely expressed zinc finger DNA/RNA-binding transcription factor, is a novel regulator of renal fibrosis in diabetic nephropathy. Since the activity of YY1 is regulated via acetylation and deacetylation modification, this study aimed to explore whether Sirt1-induced deacetylation of YY1 mediated high glucose (HG)-induced renal tubular epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and renal fibrosis in vivo and in vitro. We first confirmed that Sirt1 expression level was significantly decreased in the kidney of db/db mice and in HG-treated HK-2 cells. Diabetes-induced Sirt1 reduction enhanced the level of YY1 acetylation and renal tubular EMT. Then, we manipulated Sirt1 expression in vivo and in vitro by injecting resveratrol (50 mg·kg
·d
. ip) to db/db mice for 2 weeks or application of SRT1720 (2.5 μM) in HG-treated HK-2 cells, we found that activation of Sirt1 reversed the renal tubular EMT and YY1 acetylation induced by HG condition. On the contrary, Sirt1 was knocked down in db/m mice or EX527 (1 μM) was added in HK-2 cells, we found that inhibition of Sirt1 exacerbated renal fibrosis in diabetic mice and enhanced level of YY1 acetylation in HK-2 cells. Furthermore, knockdown of YY1 inhibited the ameliorating effect of resveratrol on renal tubular EMT and renal fibrosis in db/db mice. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Sirt1 plays an important role in renal tubular EMT of DN through mediating deacetylation of YY1.

Herein, a new single‐atom nanozyme (SAN) based on ...single Fe atoms anchored on N‐doped carbons supported on carbon nanotube (CNT/FeNC) is proposed. The CNT/FeNC with robust atomic Fe–Nx
moieties is synthesised, showing superior peroxidase‐like activity. Furthermore, the CNT/FeNC is used as the signal element in a series of paper‐based bioassays for ultrasensitive detection of H2O2, glucose, and ascorbic acid. The SAN provides a new type of signal element for developing various biosensing techniques.

The integration of Fe dopant and interfacial FeOOH into Ni‐MOFs Fe‐doped‐(Ni‐MOFs)/FeOOH to construct Fe−O−Ni−O−Fe bonding is demonstrated and the origin of remarkable electrocatalytic performance of ...Ni‐MOFs is elucidated. X‐ray absorption/photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical calculation results indicate that Fe‐O−Ni−O−Fe bonding can facilitate the distorted coordinated structure of the Ni site with a short nickel–oxygen bond and low coordination number, and can promote the redistribution of Ni/Fe charge density to efficiently regulate the adsorption behavior of key intermediates with a near‐optimal d‐band center. Here the Fe‐doped‐(Ni‐MOFs)/FeOOH with interfacial Fe−O−Ni−O−Fe bonding shows superior catalytic performance for OER with a low overpotential of 210 mV at 15 mA cm−2 and excellent stability with ≈3 % attenuation after a 120 h cycle test. This study provides a novel strategy to design high‐performance Ni/Fe‐based electrocatalysts for OER in alkaline media.
Iron doping and FeOOH decorating leads to interfacial Fe−O−Ni−O−Fe bonding in Fe‐doped‐(Ni‐MOF)/FeOOH. This interfacial bonding can regulate the active Ni site to give the appropriate adsorption behavior of intermediates for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). As a result, Fe‐doped‐(Ni‐MOF)/FeOOH shows outstanding catalytic performance with low overpotential, small Tafel slope, and high durability.
The World Health Organization has declared SARS-CoV-2 virus outbreak a worldwide pandemic. However, there is very limited understanding on the immune responses, especially adaptive immune responses ...to SARS-CoV-2 infection. Here, we collected blood from COVID-19 patients who have recently become virus-free, and therefore were discharged, and detected SARS-CoV-2-specific humoral and cellular immunity in eight newly discharged patients. Follow-up analysis on another cohort of six patients 2 weeks post discharge also revealed high titers of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. In all 14 patients tested, 13 displayed serum-neutralizing activities in a pseudotype entry assay. Notably, there was a strong correlation between neutralization antibody titers and the numbers of virus-specific T cells. Our work provides a basis for further analysis of protective immunity to SARS-CoV-2, and understanding the pathogenesis of COVID-19, especially in the severe cases. It also has implications in developing an effective vaccine to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

This molecular design concept points out a promising direction for the preparation of self-healing polymers with excellent mechanical properties. We further show this type of polymer can be potentially used as energy absorbing material.
Achieving a desirable combination of solid-like properties and fast self-healing is a great challenge due to slow diffusion dynamics. In this work, we describe a design concept that utilizes weak but ...abundant coordination bonds to achieve this objective. The designed PDMS polymer, crosslinked by abundant Zn(II)-carboxylate interactions, is very strong and rigid at room temperature. As the coordination equilibrium is sensitive to temperature, the mechanical strength of this polymer rapidly and reversibly changes upon heating or cooling. This article presents the 38-GHz phased array 32-element Tx and 16-element Rx with 2-GHz IF and 5-GHz LO for fifth-generation (5G) millimeter-wave (MMW) communications. The Tx and Rx beamformers and ...upconverters/downconverters are fabricated in 65-nm CMOS. The PAs and LNAs near antenna ends are fabricated in 0.15-<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">\mu \text{m} </tex-math></inline-formula> GaAs pHEMT. The eight-element Tx and four-element Rx phased array printed circuit board (PCB) modules integrated with multiple integrated circuits (ICs) and endfire antennas are implemented as unit cells. Four pieces of Tx modules are vertically stacked to construct an <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">8\times {4} </tex-math></inline-formula> brick array (planar array), while four Rx modules are to construct a <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">4\times {4} </tex-math></inline-formula> array. According to 38-GHz over-the-air (OTA) measurements, the 32-element Tx shows 47.5-dBm equivalent isotropic radiated power (EIRP) at OP<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">_{\mathrm {1 ~dB}} </tex-math></inline-formula> with −35.2-dB image rejection ratio (IMRR) and −37.4-dB <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">\times 8 </tex-math></inline-formula> LORR. The 16-element Rx at 38 GHz shows −4-dBm OP<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">_{\mathrm {1~dB}} </tex-math></inline-formula> with −28-dB IMRR and −36.6-dB LORR. The Tx and Rx support the beam scanning around ±60° azimuth and ±30° elevation planes. The Tx-to-Rx wireless data link demonstrates 64 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)/400 M-BR, 256 QAM/200 M-BR, and 512 QAM/100 M-BR in 20 m. To the best of our knowledge, this work is the first 5G 37-/39-GHz phased array Tx/Rx using the scalable brick array configuration and demonstrating competitive performances compared with previous works.
The role of fibronectin (FN) in tumorigenesis and malignant progression has been highly controversial. Cancerous FN plays a tumor-suppressive role, whereas it is pro-metastatic and associated with ...poor prognosis. Interestingly, FN matrix deposited in the tumor microenvironments (TMEs) promotes tumor progression but is paradoxically related to a better prognosis. Here, we justify how FN impacts tumor transformation and subsequently metastatic progression. Next, we try to reconcile and rationalize the seemingly conflicting roles of FN in cancer and TMEs. Finally, we propose future perspectives for potential FN-based therapeutic strategies.
To investigate the biomechanical effects of the lumbar posterior complex on the adjacent segments after posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) surgeries.
A finite element model of the L1-S1 segment ...was modified to simulate PLIF with total laminectomy (PLIF-LAM) and PLIF with hemilaminectomy (PLIF-HEMI) procedures. The models were subjected to a 400N follower load with a 7.5-N.m moment of flexion, extension, torsion, and lateral bending. The range of motion (ROM), intradiscal pressure (IDP), and ligament force were compared.
In Flexion, the ROM, IDP and ligament force of posterior longitudinal ligament, intertransverse ligament, and capsular ligament remarkably increased at the proximal adjacent segment in the PLIF-LAM model, and slightly increased in the PLIF-HEMI model. There was almost no difference for the ROM, IDP and ligament force at L5-S1 level between the two PLIF models although the ligament forces of ligamenta flava remarkably increased compared with the intact lumbar spine (INT) model. For the other loading conditions, these two models almost showed no difference in ROM, IDP and ligament force on the adjacent discs.
Preserved posterior complex acts as the posterior tension band during PLIF surgery and results in less ROM, IDP and ligament forces on the proximal adjacent segment in flexion. Preserving the posterior complex during decompression can be effective on preventing adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) following PLIF surgeries.
