Previous studies have confirmed that microRNAs play important roles in the pathogenesis of acute aortic dissection (AAD). Here, we aimed to explore the role of miR-145 and its regulatory mechanism in ...the pathogenesis of AAD.
AAD tissue samples were harvested from patients with aortic dissection and normal donors. Rat aortic vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) were transfected with miR-145 mimic/inhibitor or negative control mimic/inhibitor. Gene and protein expression was measured in human aortic dissection tissue specimens and VSMCs by qRT-PCR and Western blot. Luciferase reporter assay was applied to verify whether connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) was a direct target of miR-145 in VSMCs. Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium assay was used to detect VSMC viability.
miR-145 expression was downregulated in aortic dissection tissues and was associated with the survival of patients with AAD. Overexpression of miR-145 promoted VSMC proliferation and inhibited cell apoptosis. Moreover, CTGF, which was increased in aortic dissection tissues, was decreased by miR-145 mimic and increased by miR-145 inhibitor. Furthermore, CTGF was confirmed as a target of miR-145 and could reverse the promotion effect of miR-145 on the progression of AAD.
miR-145 suppressed the progression of AAD by targeting CTGF, suggesting that a miR-145/CTGF axis may provide a potential therapeutic target for AAD.
This study investigated the effects of different cold plasma treatment conditions on the lipid oxidation kinetics of tilapia fillets. The results indicated that increasing the voltage and prolonging ...the treatment time of cold plasma could cause an increase in the peroxide value and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substance values of the fillets. The changes in the primary and secondary oxidation rates of the lipids in the fillets under different treatment conditions were consistent with zero-order reaction kinetics. The analysis of the fitting of the Arrhenius equation showed that the effect of treatment voltage on the activation energy of lipid oxidation was higher than that of treatment time. When the voltage was higher than 64.71 kV, the activation energy of the primary oxidation of lipids was greater than that of secondary oxidation. Within 0-5 min, the activation energy of primary oxidation first increased then decreased, and was always greater than that of secondary oxidation. Therefore, the primary lipid oxidation of tilapia was more sensitive to the treatment conditions of cold plasma.
Acute type A aortic dissection (AAAD) in late pregnancy is a rare but severe disease. Lack of clinical experience is the main cause of high mortality. This study tries to investigate the ...multidisciplinary therapeutic strategy for these patients.
We reported three patients with AAAD in late pregnancy. Sudden chest pain was the main clinical symptom before operation. All three patients and their newborns survived through multidisciplinary approach in diagnosis and treatment. No serious complications occurred during the mid-term follow-up.
Multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment strategy play a crucial role in saving the lives of pregnant women with AAAD.
In order to investigate the effects of high voltage atmospheric cold plasma (HVACP) treatment on the number of microorganisms in and the quality of Trachinotus ovatus during refrigerator storage, ...fresh fish was packaged with gases CO2:O2:N2 (80%:10%:10%) and treated by HVACP at 75 kV for 3 min; then, the samples were stored at 4 ± 1 °C for nine days. The microbial numbers, water content, color value, texture, pH value, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), and total volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N) values of the fish were analyzed during storage. The results showed the growth of the total viable bacteria (TVB), psychrophilic bacteria, Pseudomonas spp., H2S-producing bacteria, yeast, and lactic acid bacteria in the treated samples was limited, and they were 1.11, 1.01, 1.04, 1.13, 0.77, and 0.80 log CFU/g−1 lower than those in the control group after nine days of storage, respectively. The hardness, springiness, and chewiness of the treated fish decreased slowly as the storage time extended, and no significant changes in either pH or water content were found. The lightness (L*) value increased and the yellowness (b*) value decreased after treatment, while no changes in the redness (a*) value were found. The TBARS and TVB-N of the treated samples increased to 0.79 mg/kg and 21.99 mg/100 g, respectively, after nine days of refrigerator storage. In conclusion, HVACP can limit the growth of the main microorganisms in fish samples effectively during nine days of refrigerator storage with no significant negative impact on their quality. Therefore, HVACP is a useful nonthermal technology to extend the refrigerator shelf-life of Trachinotus ovatus.
To investigate the effects of cold plasma treatment on the oxidation and structure changes of myofibrillar proteins tilapia, the fish was treated by cold plasma with different time (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 ...min) and different voltage (40, 50, 60, 70, 80 kV), respectively, the carbonyl content, sulfhydryl content, hydrophobicity, Zeta potential, SDS-PAGE, UV spectra, fluorescence spectra and Raman spectrometer of myofibrillar protein were measured after treatment. The results showed that the carbonyl content and surface hydrophobicity of myofibrillar protein were increased gradually, as the treatment time extending or voltage increased, while the total sulfhydryl and the active sulfhydryl content were decreased. When the treatment time was extending to 5 min, the total sulfhydryl and the active sulfhydryl content were decreased to 66.91 and 52.76 μmol/g, respectively. The carbonyl content increased from 1.23 to 2.16 nmol/mg, if the treatment voltage was increased to 80 kV. Cold plasma treatment decreased the absolute
With fresh mutton as the research object, the effects of different cold plasma treatment conditions (treatment time, treatment voltage, treatment times, post-storage time after treatment) on mutton ...were studied by measuring mutton chromatism, pH value, thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) value, carbonyl content, total sulfhydryl content, and protein surface hydrophobicity. The results showed that cold plasma treatment increased L* value, and decreased a* value and b* value of mutton. When the treatment voltage exceeded 50 kV, the a* value decreased significantly (P<0.05), but the total color (ΔE) difference between the treatment groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). TBARS value, carbonyl content and surface hydrophobicity were increased gradually with the extension of treatment time, treatment voltage and storage time after treatment. When the treatment time was as long as 5 min, TBARS value of mutton was increased to 0.215 mg/kg, the pH value and total sulfhydryl content of mutton showed
The buzzwords born in the post-2020 epidemic era reflect the changes in the values of Chinese youths. However, little empirical research has been conducted to understand why people use buzzwords and ...changes of values of Chinese youths. Adopting the uses and gratifications theory and prototype category theory by means of regression analysis was employed to analyze the data collected from 112 undergraduate and graduate students in China Three Gorgeous University. The results reveal that socializing needs were the strongest motivation in predicting the usage intention of buzzwords. Applying the method of continuous comparison to analyze the data, the study found that the political, international, social, and moral views of Chinese youths have possessed more inclusive international value and more integrated social value in the post-epidemic era. This study has certain enlightenment to the value orientation of contemporary college students.
Niobium-based oxides (M-Nb-O) as promising lithium/sodium-ion storage anode materials have attracted much attention. More types of niobium-based oxides are prepared in order to provide more ...candidates for anode materials. Herein, Zn3Nb2O8 as a novel intercalation-type anode material has been reported for the first time. Arborescent Zn3Nb2O8 particles (Zn3Nb2O8-A) and stump-like Zn3Nb2O8 particles (Zn3Nb2O8-B) have been prepared by solid-state and solvothermal methods, respectively. Benefiting from the microsized stump-like structure and the exposure of the (110) facet, Zn3Nb2O8-B delivers superior long-term cycling stability with a 139.6% capacity retention (291.8 mA h g−1) over 650 cycles at 0.5 A g−1 and a large reversible specific capacity of 91.4 mA h g−1 at 4.0 A g−1 in lithium-ion batteries. Furthermore, the Zn3Nb2O8-B electrode exhibits outstanding cycling stability (100.1 mA h g−1 with 94.5% capacity retention after 400 cycles at 0.5 A g−1) in sodium-ion batteries. The excellent electrochemical performance of the stump-like Zn3Nb2O8-B materials can be attributed to the exposure of the (110) facet, enlarged interlayer spacing, small charge transfer resistance, and high pseudocapacitive contribution. Therefore, Zn3Nb2O8-B has great application prospects as an anode material for lithium/sodium-ion storage.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a ubiquitous conditional pathogen. Cold plasma with a high inactivation efficacy becomes a potential decontamination technology. In this study, the inactivation effect of ...high voltage atmospheric cold plasma on P. aeruginosa was investigated through tandem mass tag quantitative proteomics analysis. After the treatment at 75 kV for 90 s, the mortality rate increased from 48.16% to 94.45% as post-treatment time extended to 2 h. A total of 469 proteins (246 being up-regulated and 223 being down-regulated) were identified as differentially expressed proteins. Bioinformatics analysis showed that differentially expressed proteins were mainly involved in energy metabolism, biofilm formation and quorum sensing, cell movement, protein secretion, DNA replication and repair, and RNA transcription and translation. The results indicated that energy generation was inhibited and the biofilm formation of P. aeruginosa became difficult after treatment. This paper deepens the understanding of the response of P. aeruginosa cells to high voltage atmospheric cold plasma treatment at the proteome level.
