On the eve of the occurrence of geological hazards, part of the rock and soil body begins to burst, rub, and fracture, generating infrasound signals propagating outward. 3D advanced positioning of ...the landslide has remained unsolved, which is important for disaster prevention. Through the Fourier transform and Hankel transform of the wave equation in cylindrical coordinates, this work established a three-dimensional axisymmetric sound field model based on normal waves, and designed a 4-element helix triangular pyramid array with vertical and horizontal sampling capabilities. Based on this, the three-dimensional matching localization algorithm of infrasound for geological hazards is proposed. Applying the algorithm to the infrasound signal localization of rock and soil layers, it was found that the helix triangular pyramid array can achieve accurate estimation of depth and distance with a smaller number of array elements than the traditional array, and may overcome the azimuth symmetry ambiguity. This study shows the application prospects of this method for predicting geohazards position several hours in advance.
Enantioselective cross-electrophile reactions remain a challenging subject in metal catalysis, and with respect to data, studies have mainly focused on stereoconvergent reactions of racemic alkyl ...electrophiles. Here, we report an enantioselective cross-electrophile aryl-alkenylation reaction of unactivated alkenes. This method provides access to a number of biologically important chiral molecules such as dihydrobenzofurans, indolines, and indanes. The incorporated alkenyl group is suitable for further reactions that can lead to an increase in molecular diversity and complexity. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions at room temperature, and an easily accessible chiral pyrox ligand is used to afford products with high enantioselectivity. The synthetic utility of this method is demonstrated by enabling the modification of complex molecules such as peptides, indometacin, and steroids.
This study aimed to investigate the influence of low-dose levodopa (L-DOPA) on neuronal cell death under oxidative stress.
PC12 cells were treated with L-DOPA at different concentrations. We detected ...the L-DOPA induced reactive oxygen species (ROS). Meanwhile, MTT and LDH assay were performed to determine the proliferation and growth of PC12 cells with or without ROS scavenger. In addition, after pretreatment with L-DOPA at different concentrations alone or in combination with CD39 inhibitor, PC12 cells were incubated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and the cell viability was evaluated by MTT and LDH assay. In addition, the expression of pCREB and CD39 was detected by immunofluorescence staining and Western blot assay in both cells and rat's brain after L-DOPA treatment.
After treatment with L-DOPA for 3 days, the cell proliferation and growth were promoted when the L-DOPA concentration was <30 µM, while cell proliferation was comparable to that in control group when the L-DOPA concentration was >30 µM. Low dose L-DOPA could protect the PC12 cells from H2O2 induced oxidative stress, which was compromised by CD39 inhibitor. In addition, the expression of CD39 and pCREB increased in both PC12 cells and rats' brain after L-DOPA treatment.
L-DOPA at different concentrations has distinct influence on proliferation and growth of PC12 cells, and low dose (<30 µM) L-DOPA protects PC12 cells against oxidative stress which might be related to the up-regulation of CD39 and pCREB expression.
A strategy for the synthesis of spiroketal compounds through a tandem iodocyclization of 1-(2-ethynylphenyl)-4-hydroxybut-2-yn-1-one derivatives is presented. This reaction could proceed under very ...mild conditions in a short time and avoid the use of expensive and toxic metal catalysts. Moreover, the resulting halides can be further exploited by subsequent palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions, which act as the important intermediates for building other valuable compounds.
An efficient and selective gold-catalyzed cascade reaction for the synthesis of oxanorbornenes and naphthalene derivatives from easily prepared hydroxy enynes has been developed. Divergent products ...could be obtained from the same substrates by different gold catalytic systems.
Iodine sets allenes ringing: A novel iodine‐promoted tandem cyclization reaction of but‐2‐yne‐1,4‐diol and 4‐aminobut‐2‐yn‐1‐ol derivatives leading to substituted 3,4‐diiodoheterocyclic compounds has ...been developed (see scheme). In this reaction, a trace amount of water is needed. Both the iodine anion and cation generated from I2 are used in the reaction. The resulting iodides can then be used in palladium‐catalyzed coupling reactions. The reaction conditions are metal‐free, mild, and environmentally friendly.
Objective
To examine whether the combination of Naoxintong Capsule with standard care could further reduce the recurrence of ischemic stroke without increasing the risk of severe bleeding.
Methods
A ...total of 23 Chinese medical centers participated in this trial. Adult patients with a history of ischemic stroke were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio using a block design to receive either Naoxintong Capsule (1.2 g orally, twice a day) or placebo in addition to standard care. The primary endpoint was recurrence of ischemic stroke within 2 years. Secondary outcomes included myocardial infarction, death due to recurrent ischemic stroke, and all-cause mortality. The safety of drugs was monitored. Results were analyzed using the intention-to-treat principle.
Results
A total of 2,200 patients were enrolled from March 2015 to March 2016, of whom 143 and 158 in the Naoxintong and placebo groups were lost to follow-up, respectively. Compared with the placebo group, the recurrence rate of ischemic stroke within 2 years was significantly lower in the Naoxintong group 6.5% vs. 9.5%, hazard ratio (HR): 0.665, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.492-0.899,
P
=0.008. The two groups showed no significant differences in the secondary outcomes and safety, including rates of severe hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage (
P
>0.05).
Conclusion
The combination of Naoxintong Capsule with standard care reduced the 2-year stroke recurrence rate in patients with ischemic stroke without increasing the risk of severe hemorrhage in high-risk patients. (Trial registration No. NCT02334969)
A new method for the AgSCF3-mediated radical cascade difunctionalizing trifluoromethythiolation of alkynes with dearomatization is developed. This protocol provides a novel route to SCF3-substituted ...spirocyclic compounds via the formation of one C–SCF3 bond, one C–C bond, and one C–O double bond in a single step.
An intramolecular electrophilic ipso-iodocyclization of N-benzyl-N-(1-naphthyl)propiolamides combined with the Friedel-Crafts-type reaction for the synthesis of complex polycyclic lactams is ...reported. The resulting iodinated cyclization product can provide a very useful handle for further structural manipulation.
Late-life depression could be classified roughly as early-onset depression (EOD) and late-onset depression (LOD). LOD was proved to be associated with cerebral lesions including white matter ...hyperintensities (WMH) and silent brain infarctions (SBI), differently from EOD. However, it is unclear whether similar association is present between LOD and microbleeds which are also silent lesions. In this study, 195 patients of late-life depression were evaluated and divided into EOD, presenile-onset depression (POD), and LOD groups; 85 healthy elderly controls were enrolled as controls. Subjects were scanned by MRI including susceptibility weighted images to evaluate white matter hyperintensities (WMH), silent brain infarctions (SBI), and microbleeds. The severity of depression was evaluated with 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale. Psychosocial factors were investigated with Scale of Life Events and Lubben Social Network Scale. Logistic regression and linear regression were performed to identify the independent risk factors for depression. Results showed that LOD patients had higher prevalence of microbleeds than EOD, POD, and control patients. The prevalence of lobar microbleeds and microbleeds in the left hemisphere was the independent risk factor for the occurrence of LOD; a high number of microbleeds were associated with severe state of LOD, whereas life events and lack of social support were more important for EOD and POD. All these results indicated that Microbleeds especially lobar microbleeds and microbleeds in the left hemisphere were associated with LOD but not with EOD.
